Based on what? They didn't even get through the Champions League, not in the FA Cup, second in the Prem... arguably the second best team in England... not even in the top ten in the world!

Just to add my comment on Tommy Smith that Sven raised... I forgot to mention in my Saints summary on another thread, that he too had a good game at St Mary's. Very different from a few weeks ago, and even oozed confidence in last 15 mins. And remember that this was after flying back from NZ and jet lag!

Just goes to show what a good run and confidence will do for a player. Young too, I like it.

My gut feeling is that the Premier League has been blighted by the likes of Norwich City and Wigan Athletic.

The standard is just not good enough compared to the Europeans.

Haha, nice one because you can really compare us to Wigan? I'm curious, tell me more.

actually, you can't compare us to wigan because they have been an established premier league team for the past 8 years. i find it very disrespectful to talk about wigan as if they have no right to be in the premier league - they earned the right to be there and year after year have survived. if we do that i'd be over the moon! ok, they aren't the best supported team in the land but that makes what they achieve all the more remarkable. still, at least we are in a position to emulate wigan... ipswich are just looking to emulate us at the moment <ok>
