What we gunna do bout this fella, im just about running out of patience with him now, people keep making excuses for him saying that he's being played out of position, not enough starts, we pass the ball too slow for him blah blah blah but theres no excuse for the amount of sitters he's missed now, i know he works his town halls of for the team but ah kin el how did he miss that one today?? you cant blame any one but him. When do we say enough is enough, i realy thought he would come good by now but maybe he just needs another club and its time yo say addios and cut our losses for the good of CFC, or do we send him out on loan to let him try and get his confidence back i know we cant do anything till the end of the season but surley we must be looking to replace him. What we gunna do???

I'd play him 'til the end of the season. He's setting up chances for others so I'd stick with him & re-evaluate in the summer with the new boss. Drogba gives it large about "the team" but he's just playing for one last big move. Out of the two I'd take Torres every day now!

Its all a confidence thing! I know we're a bit of a target for the rest when he has a game like last night--but it has to click sometime!

To be fair, Mikel could've done a better job on that penalty :D

Didn't Torres turn down the penalty? I don't think it was anything to do with bottle, I don't think he appreciated charity being offered to him.

I know he gets paid more per year than I'll ever make in a lifetime but put the money thing aside; it can't be easy being jeered every time he even touches the ball and that's before the media even get involved, it's not like he deserves it cos he slept with another players wife, or a 102 year old prostitute, or he tweets random bollocks, or he's racially abused people, he's a good player that pretty much everyone is having a good old circlejerk about every time he fails cos they're scared he might find his form again. His confidence must be at an all time low and that's not nice for anybody.

Agreed. I am not a supporter of a Premier League club, so I feel that as a neutral when I watch football I want to see the best players play well to entertain me. I know Torres is a class act and it's a shame that he's not doing what we all know he can do. All players have a phase where nothing goes their way, but never for this long so something is definitely wrong. I wouldn't blame him if he forced a move back home. Maybe thats exactly what he needs.

Me too! How many does Drogba score these days? Torres works his arse off for the team and creates chances for others.
Our football is more fluent when Torres plays too.

Torres has never taken a penalty in all his time in England so why start now?

Thought RDM set it up right last night with Mata behind him.

The guys head will be totally ****ed by now...in and out of the team, zero confidence and loads of **** going on behind the scenes...

If we can go on a bit of a run now and performances can improve perhaps Torres will start getting a few more chances and inevitably some goals. Lucks got to change sometime and if he is backed by being picked by RDM, perhaps game by game he can play back into better form. I've said it prenty of times but he tries so hard and puts himself about so I'm prepared to give him more time.

To be fair to the lad, the only good chance he had he created himself with that turn and he should have had 2 assists barring a woeful pen from Mata plus the Sturridge miss too.

It looked like it. On ITV they showed some footage of them both talking after the penalty was given and that's what the commentators were saying but Mata could've easily been telling him that he was taking it himself, I can't lip read... or speak Spanish...

In other words take everything I've said with a pinch of salt :D

Shame when a striker is too scared to take a pen.

i agree that we should stick with him, his work rate is excellent and at least he does not spend all his time falling over like drogba and who knows, he could be just one goal away from hitting a nice little scoring streak.

I think torres up top with mata behind will bring out the best of both of them. I think Chelsea need to build their team around this system

    He's never taken them?

Even at Liverpool when at his career best...why would that be any different now?

    Also what would it achieve?

If he missed...even more woe and reason to be ridiculed.

If he scored...well it's 'only' a penalty and he wouldn't get the next one anyway. Short fix. We didn't spent 50 million for him to take pens when we're 2-0 up.

Utd fan in peace..I remember Forlan being in the same position an taking a pen. After that his form picked up an he went on to score some important goals for us.I think if Torres scores 1 he'll go on a run, regardless of how he scores. He seems to have lost his instinct.

Hes an awful player right now but you need to keep hold for 2 reasons.

He has the quality to turn it around if he gets a break but If you sold him now you can expect a £40million loss plus his wages.
