Intrigued to say the least about how things are going to play out later, nice to see a couple of old boys in charge of the team affairs though, esp Newton. Read in the Times this morning that Di Matteo was hated as much as AVB, due to his aloof attitude so not sure how this will work at all, but we will certainly get to see in the next couple of months. The same article highlighted their plight at West brom and chastised their approach with WBA facing relegation until Woy took over. My understanding is that RDM, very much like Mowbray before him and Zola at West Ham, was trying to play good quality football with a team whose personnel were more geared towards scrapping. If that is the case then bring it on, and if he can garner some respect from the players there even better...I would have thought that his footballing pedigree would be enough to achieve that, the rest will be his to work on! Think it's hard to judge RDM when managing a relegation fodder side. Completely different quality of player and circumstances. Also as you've said, very hard to get a side playing the 'right' way when you don't have quality throughout the side. Swansea are the exception not the rule that's for sure. Not sure how it will pan out but we can't be any worse can we?!?! Feel sorry for AVB but I'm a lot more excited/intrigued about tonight's game now just to see whether there is a reaction from the players. Bet brummies are a lot less confident then they would have been at 5 on saturday.
Predictions? I'm going to be glass half full and go for a 2-0 away win. Old guard to win it. Lampard and Drogba!!
Oooft... I'm keeping quiet but hoping for a win obviously. My main hope is for an improved performance on the pitch and more cohesion in the squad
Do you think its too early to say that RDM may change team selection / formation and roles... Although passion was a big thing for me with the players when AVB was in charge, I still feel tactical decisions were woeful.
To be fair it would only take some of the under performers to raise their game by 10-20% and we'd soon be winning games again. We're not getting battered every game and an extra bit of application would go a long way. Just hoping that a new man might gee up the players enough to improve results, case in point O'Neill at Sunderland. Personally I'd be building my side around a Mata, Torres, Sturridge front 3. Get balls to them as quick as possible etc and support from midfield with Ramieres and Lampard. Less of this sideways passing ****e for a start and a lot less of midfielders coming deep to collect 3 yard passes from centre halves leaving us a man down
Well for a few million quid a year I reckon I could get us playing poorly and dropping points every other week just like the last 2 managers we've had - in fact I darn well guarantee it!!
what the fekk has happened to Romeu??????????????????????????????????????????????? He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth!
