Like a lot of other canaries I'd love to see the majority of the names batted around in a city shirt, but no doubt we'll all be way of the mark and PL will pull a few surprises.

As a side issue I am wondering whether anyone has heard some of the rumours about Tierney and Morrison? I've heard two conflicting stories or a bust up so they're probably inaccurate but I do wonder if there is any substance in them? Does anyone have any links to the club that may be able to advise further?

Anyway, back to the thread... Do you think PL may dip into the international market? He hates to pay over inflated prices and now we've reached the promise land and retained our place for next season do you think he may delve into other European leagues to try and find some young, hungry players from abroad?

I'm thinking there must be 'some mileage' in this rumour, as that's about the 5th time I've heard it mentioned - all from complletely different sources. Not sure we'll get any clarification from Carrow Road/Colney on this one though.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see PL using his German connections to bring in new players. I'd love us to pay up to £6M for Naughton and would also love to see Pacheco wearing yellow and green again.

I've heard it from different sources- all on here after it was mentioned on the pink'un when the January transfer window stories about Morison being sold and a training ground bust up were speculated. I suspect it was just a touted theory that's now developed into a full blown rumour. Chances are there's no truth in it, but people keep dropping it into conversation and then it gets hushed away, making it sound more convincing than it actually is.

Even if it were true, it's never going to be something released

I will be very suprised if we delve into the wilderness of european leagues. We havent really got a scouting network across europe so i will be suprised to see anyone come from abroad. Though he could use his dortmund connections and get us a cut price on mario gotze <ok>

I think jay rodriguez is a real possibilty, we made an inquiry in january but left it at that. now it looks like burnley will be staying down again burnley might look to cash in on there prize asset though obviousley expect others to be interested.

I was saying to my dad the other day, i will be amazed if our record transfer is still £3.5mil come the end of august!

We want to improve on what we have, and what comes with that is higher fees than what we have previousley paid out. We spent just over £10mil last summer if i remeber so if we were to get another 4 or 5 in i reckon we can expect to see atleast £15mil+ leave the coffers.

can we clear this morison/tierney thing up, once and for all please? it is completely fabricated - i and many others have witnessed both of them chatting to each other in the players lounge and even grant holt has said on twitter it is laughable. would you have pleasant conversations with someone who did what is being suggested? it is made up. god only knows why... <ok>

Thanks for clearing that up Supers. I didn't want to believe it, but I'd heard it from so many sources that I was beginning to.

Would love to see Tierney back to help us with our tough run in. I thought that early in the seasson Tierney/Pilkington and Naughton/Bennett were proving a real handful for most defences.

    Eh? Who?

Morison has had a run of games where he has looked at times tired and other times disinterested, not helped by Holt being in great form.

Tierney originally had a groin injury, played a reserve match and then hurt his groin again in training, then played in another reserve match and now has hurt his knee- very unlucky but not uncommon.

Both seem like perfectly normal explanations to me

morrison is clearly out of form / low in confidence, that's all we need to know - it happens to all players! Look at Holt at the start of last season.

and look at Stuart Downing - oh woops, he's permanently out of form.

    This.

I think Tierney's delivery is probably the most consistent of any of our wide men and while defensively he was fantastic, we've really suffered going forward without him:
with him- 27 goals in 17 PL matches 1.6 goals per match
without him- 9 goals in 10 PL matches 0.9 goals per match

i don't know whats happened to anyone. equally i'm only going on what i've seen with my eyes - i don't know what people are thinking. morison has clearly had his confidence knocked, which is why i hate it when people lambast him for what is basically a dip in form and try to find some other reason why someone suddenly plays poorly. why has there always got to be a major reason for a poor performance? sometimes people lose morale and suffer getting it back - they are all human and all different personalities. by putting him in the reserves it might have a detrimental effect on his low confidence - who knows. lambert will know his character more than any of us but lets stop with the made up rumours. <ok>

Exactly. I'm not even convinced he's had a dip in form as such- he just couldn't find his way onto the pitch enough cos Holt was playing so well and Lambert either wanted Holt on his own like on Saturday (mistake!) or Simeon Jackson partnering for a bit of pace. I'd be very surprised if Morison doesn't get a lot of game time against Wigan- if it's true he was annoyed about not getting on (which I think is a good thing as it shows how motivated he is to play) then he'll play his heart out on Sunday

not sure i agree. i do think he has visibly lost a bit of form. i don't think he's playing atrocious (when he plays) but i do feel he's not quite as in tune as he was early in the season, though he was excellent at that time. he's a good player who is in a lull but it'll turn again. holt might have a poor run at some point - everyone does to a degree - but some come out of that run quicker than others. a bit of patience and support and players get back on track. its a tough league for centre forwards - you've got to be on top of your game to be a success at this level and its bound to take its toll. we are lucky we have jackson who can come in and do well <ok>

I've seen Whittingham quite a bit and really don't think he would improve our squad that greatly. Hes a decent player with a great left foot however I dont think he has the pace to make a big impact in the prem. Bridcutt looks a good player and could give competition to Fox for the DM role. In terms of a LB how about Mattock who is on loan at Brighton. Haven't seen too much of him, but looks decent and still only 21. Rodriguez as most people seem to agree would be a very good signing, another striker maybe Chris Wood? Scores plenty of goals and is young, fee maybe too high though. McGugan is a player no prem team has gambled on, is there a reason for this? Always looked quite handy and won't be going up with Forest this year. Clyne would be great but reportedly several big clubs including Man U were sniffing around so may be unobtainable.

I'm surprised no one has suggested their hidden gems from Football Manager... but then that sort of thing never helped David Moyes much ;)

agree about whittingham. not a good enough player for us. sweet left foot, good set pieces and err... thats it really. doesn't simon lappin do that? bridcutt (or a similar holding player who can also pass) would be my top priority if i was lambert as a defensive midfielder has been our achilles heel this season. always good to add a striker too for competition - chris wood certainly seems to have something about him but i sit firmly in the jay rod camp - even ahead of rhodes. mcgugan falls into the same category as whittingham. i really liked what i saw last season but from what i've heard he's become a bit big for his boots this year and hasn't progressed at all. if anything, he's gone backwards so no to him i think, unless lambert can restart him! if we can't get naughton i'd rather we go for clyne than gunter but i won't exactly be crying myself to sleep if we get the latter <ok>
