Morning Spurs fans

Firstly I am a UTD fan who has a lot of time for Spurs going back to the days of Villa, Hoddle et al. So not wumming, genuinely want a view from yourselves

I have personally never been a big fan of Arry. He has revived you guys and I can see why some may be worried about him going on to the England job

In all honesty for me he is the wrong choice and your season is (for me) the reason for my views

I think harry's man management (something England need) is not as good as some would say.
I use his treatment of Bent, Pav and currently Defoe as a basis for my argument

I cannot believe Louis Saha (with his record at Everton) gets in ahead of the likes of Defoe. Dont get me wrong Saha for me was a favourite at UTD

I just think Harry takes things too personally and isolates certain players. Too many changes

You were unlucky yesterday, I personally believe a Defoe or Pav up front with adebayour (who scores but needs lots of chances) and you would have been a couple of goals to the good in the first half

Agree with the Defoe point, can't understand why we're benching him so much, by far our most lethal finisher and when playing a 4-4-2 he has to play. Saha's actually been a really good signing but should still be 3rd choice behind Ade and JD in my opinion.

Harry's a great manager though, been our best for a very, very long time. Personally I think he's the ideal candidate for England but naturally want him to stay. Will be gutted if he goes.

We sold Pav but yeah, I thought Saha was bought as backup for Adebayor, not to play alongside him. I too would've gone for Defoe but you can understand why Saha got the nod, he's got 3 in 3 starts for us playing alongside Ade and Defoe was awful when he played against Stevenage.

My main grievance with 'Arry yesterday was that it took until the 80th minute to get Defoe and Kranjcar on. Normally 'Arry's quick to change things when needed but he was very slow too and should've made the changes as soon as the second went in and just go for it.

'Arry was right to freeze out Bent, when he didn't score he did nothing and when he did score he spent the other 89 minutes doing nothing. He wasn't an 'Arry type player and wasn't a Spurs type player either. Pav was given opportunity after opportunity but his inconsistency was frustrating and ultimately he was too slow to keep up with our fast paced attacking with Bale and Lennon on the wings. It was a shame because he had a good relationship with the fans although everyone agreed it was time for him to go.

If anything 'Arry makes too few changes, he has his preferred team and he's unwilling to change it, whether it's to rest players or just freshen things up.

I think 'Arry's perfect for the England role, he's experienced, works particularly well with English players and plays exciting football. We all know England aren't a top team anymore but it'd be nice to see an England side play good, exciting football for a change. That said, I want him to stay at Spurs, he's the best manager we've had in a long time and the past 3 years of the same manager has brought us some stability again, which we need to continue.

Pav was always better as an impact sub than as a starter - he could put the ball in the back of the net, but he didn't have much workrate and his first touch was awful. As for how he treated Darren bent, the fact is that Darren Bent clearly wasn't hugged much as a child. The reason he left Sunderland was because a couple of fans on a fan forum (readytogo.net, I believe) slated him for being lazy - which is true, as he doesn't work for the team, or work for his goals - and he flounced out of the club as a result. You can't really slate Harry when Bent is happy to play the stroppy teenager with itchy feet all the time.

True, some players have been frozen out, but a lot of them are with good reason - for example, Adel Taarabt may have had skill, when in fact he was lazy, had wasn't a team player, and his ego was pissing everyone off (the fact he's done sod all at QPR this season also underlines we were right to get shot of him), and similar can be said for Giovanni Dos Santos (he looks good in short bursts, but doesn't want to push himself to be consistent)

Well who can blame Defoe for wanting to leave? as much time as i have got for Saha and he has done great for us...but what will this be doing to Defoe...ive always questioned the intricacies of HR management skills..im afraid for us if we are ever to step onto the bigger stage..a level up as you call it..then HR may not be the man.I suppose everyone thinks they owe him a debt of gratitude due to him pulling us from the mire and giving us some great moments since he took charge. What i see is that he came in...inherited a good squad..gave them belief....and they have been on a rollercoaster since...Im not saying we can get anyone better but we do need someone better..when it comes to tactical know how.

Harry has frozen out Pav,Bent,Gio,Bentley....now can you imagine a starting 11 with 4 spots taken by the above 4? and throw in Krancjear in that....however the Defoe thing baffles me at times.....for example yesterday..throw him on with 45 minutes to play not when we are 3 behind.....if you have ever played football at any level and you come onto the pitch in such a scenario you have 2 emotions....

1)im going to be the hero
2)fk this what do you expect me to do!


As i take my tracksuit off its thought 1...as i step onto the pitch it becomes thought 2 asap!...this breeds resentment as it is a lose lose situation as the environment isnt correct for you as a player to show your worth...why should a sub be expected to haul us out of a 3 nil deficit when others have had 80 minutes to no avail...and then stat loving fans will be saying that Defoe is cack look at his appearence to goal record(example)




I dont think Harry will do well with the England job..yeh he might perk the squad up to beat the latvia's and Northern Ireland's...but when he plays the big boys who have alot more going on in the team apart from guts and glory..i.e tactics etc..then he will be sat in the same position he is with at Spurs..then the gutter press will screw him.

Am a genuine football fan (although UTD is my team) and like to comment on other teams. Some people just resort to aggro, can see why with some but stifles genuine discussion, so cheers

Some good points above. I do see why Spurs fans love HR at the moment. Its been a long time coming for you guys

I personally do believe that he isnt the man in the long run, too many limitations for me. I dont want him in the england job as I think he will get found out and themedia may destroy him if he fails. and I feel england will fail no matter who the manager. The players just dont seem bothered for me

You can all pick holes in not starting JD now, but he has been with Ade before Saha even got here and he was anonymous and typically dreadful. He scored a good goal from a **** pass by Giggs...nothing to shout about.

Defoe isnt good enough to start games for us, he is an impact player and he has even said this himself that he gets most joy in the past 20 minutes of games when defenders tire and space opens up more.

As for Arry, how good is he? there is no doubt he is capable of getting players to play for him, also he does like the attractive game and I would expect him to be as good as venables for England but lets be honest here, look at the England squad, its dire, think back to the days of 1990, euro 96 and then when rooney broke onto the scene ....since then its been all down hill, this country is lacking in real quality and there is only so much a manager can do, especially as england are expected to challenge for the big prizes.

Not quite sure where the idea that Harry thinks we can win the WC in Brazil is coming from. Whatever, if you think about it, to get the national side to teh semi-final of a major tournament, pretty much makes you a national hero, and Harry would certainly fancy his chances of achieving that.

The roll into Brazil to win, was a tongue in cheek mock Spurcat, and the nostalgia I should have stated clearer as a part of his reasons, in that I mean he personally knew, and played alongside the last (only) Englishman to lift the WC. Can any other candidates say that?

I do understand the England job is an English managerial pinnacle...just not atm imo. I think you'd agree its overhaul time, out with the old in with the new, so there's a building exercise going on there and I just don't see HR as the right man for a long 'project', I only see him as quick fix Arry. If his waffle about bringing Scholes out of retirement is anything to go by...god help us!

To be fair, 'Arry knows if he won the World Cup for England, he'll never have to pay a speeding fine again, let alone get taken to court.
