Indeed, he is a lethal goalscorer. But he's so much more than that too. If he was in your team you'd soon find that out.

I'd have Lambert at Leeds definitely, but not necessarily at the expense of Rosco and Becchio. I'd say we'd have more use for Lallana.

i know exactly what you mean. when he played for us he was quality and i didnt think he could get much better. his goals was so good that if it was messi or rooney scoring them people be on about them for years! but his he had so much more than this to his game. some of the stuff he was doing was like le tissier magic. he reminded me of le tissier but less greedier and more deadly. a lot of clubs in league 1 and 2 thought he was just a 1 season wonder but he kept doing everything the next season but even better. we were suprised he left for southampton who was league 1 at the time as we all thought he should be championship level at least yet everyone was saying he is too slow for the championship and untested. he was simply dismissed by a lot of supporters from a lot of clubs.

well you all seen what he can do and i think you can agree with me that he dont think he gets enough praise/recognition for what he has done so far. i think he will make it in the prem. i hope you go up so i can see him have a chance.

pffft, i disagree, I'd take Lambert upfront with McCormack anyday of the week. We are in more need of Lambert than any other player in the league. For me, he is EXACTLY the type of player we have been missing for the whole season. Remember he is not just goalscoring, he is so much more than that. Not to say Lallana isn't awesome though

Slightly derogatory Le God comments aside, I can thoroughly agree with your comments about Rickie. And I'll echo HR's comment that the Lad sure is special, and certainly deserves a crack at the PL. If there is any justice in the football world, Rickie's talent needs to be seen on the big stage. As they say, better late than never.

Rickie could easily play in midfield, in a similar role to Matt LeTissier, he has a lightning fast football brain and superb technique and vision. I honestly feel that he will be at our club for a long time to come in the Premier League.

Whittingham had a poor game yesterday though I thought. Think Lambert deserves to win the award now!

whittingham isnt as good as everyone makes out, he goes missing in big games.

Snodgrass is miles better, although teams tend to double up on Snoddy now keeping him quiet

So is Lallana. Lallana and Snodgrass are the 2 best midfielders in the league imo

Not sure how wealthy Saints backers are, but you may struggle to hang on to Lambert & others if you go up this season. More to the point, if you were to miss out on promotion, you will definitely struggle to hang onto Lambert & others.

We won't - all of our key players have signed contract extensions - Lallana signed a 4 and a half year contract when we were in league 1 and only in the play off places!

Players will stay with clubs that show ambition.

Saints have great owners who have backed a capable manager and they are going places, we just seem to be falling behind!

Fair point TomW. Your point also noted YWBK. Difference is, the lure of the PL & some big money for those that can deliver. If Saints go up, then yes they'll possibly hang onto their best players as those players will probably want to stay with they team they helped to get there. But if Saints don't go up, then big money will definitely test the resolve of the club.

Time will tell, & one thing is for sure, Saints are in a better position than us to go up. But their's is not a done deal yet. 2 from 3 (Saints, Hammers, & Brum) for auto & then the play offs come down to luck as much as anything else.

Have to agree with YWBK it is all about the ambition that clubs show. Lambert is also 30 years old now, he is at an age that he wants to play first team football for the next 3 seasons not spend a season on the bench which is what might happen should one of the bigger teams come in for him. I say bigger teams because assuming S'ton get promoted what would he gain from a move to Everton, Villa, Stoke, Fulham or any other of the mid table teams. I fully expect S'ton to continue to show ambition next season and be challenging these teams as Norwich and Swansea have this season.

I also agree a three horse race between the current top 3 - Over the course of this season so far they are the three most deserved

I'm pretty iritated that Whittingham managed to get into the player of the year awards. There have been many better players this season including Snoddy. Just look at the stats

    Top Scorers:

    1.Ricky Lamber-21
    2.Ross McCoramck-15
    3.Jay Rodriguez-14
    4.Micheal Chopra-13
    5.David Nugent-13
    6.Darius Henderson-13
    7.Kevin Phillips-12
    8.Craig Davies-11
    9.Robert Snodgrass-11
    10.Marvin Emnes-11

    Top Assists
    1.Robert Snodgrass-11
    2.Chris Burke-11
    3.Peter Whittingham-11
    4.Frazier Richardson-11
    5.Ben Davies-9
    6.Rickie Lambert-9
    7.Daniel Fox-8
    8.Mark Yates-8
    9.Jobi McAnuff-8
    10.George Boyd-8

And out of the 3 candidates, one is only in one list (so why he is the best I dont know?), one isnt in the top 10 of either list (although he's still a fantastic player but still) and the other is probably the only one I agree with considering he has 21 goals and 9 assists.
