Ive been harping on about this lad for a while now to anyone that listens.I think he fits the bill very well and is just the type of player PL would sign. He's got 20 now this season. What do you think?
Quality player, and I feel would compliment the squad very well. Quick, decent technically and a good finisher. Also comes with a bit less hype than some other potential targets so may be a lower price and lower expectations of him. If we get the chance than we should go for it. Only thing you can't always see as a fan is their personality off the pitch which seems very important to PL but I have heard of no problems in relation to this.
There were rumours around in Jan - close to the time a figure of £7-8m was mentioned for Jordan Rhodes. I reckon JR would be around £5m, if we could prise him away. Defo already on the club's radar, I'd say
I would happily transfer out Morison and Vaughan for Rodriguez and Rhodes, no attitude and no injury concerns
What a stupid thing to say... Morrison certainly hasn't got any attitude problems, it isn't his fault that sometime we play awful football and he doesn't get any service. And as for Vaughan, Lambert hasn't got a signing wrong yet, so give him a chance. And for the record, I think central midfield is the area we should be targeting to improve before anything else!
Rodriguez and whittingham would be my top transfer targets. Major improvement in midfield and up top!
I wouldn't say we need much improving up front, we've score a lot of goals even given the games when our strikers go 90 minutes without getting any service. The only area I'd say it is vital we improve is central mid.
Im sorry DM but i have to disagree. Theres always room for improvement and come next season our attacking options WILL need to be improved. I expect 2 full backs to come in, one for either side. Cover or improvement for fox and a striker who can improve on what we have. i said in a previous thread that if we rest on our laurels, with the squad we have then we shall come majorly unstuck next season.
But the way we played against Stoke, if we'd had Robin van Persie we probably still wouldn't have scored. By all means we may buy a new striker but the main problem area is definatley the midfield! And after that it is the defence. The only area I'm confident on is goalkeeper to be honest. Right now I'd be inclined to say that Naughton, Whitbred, Ward, Tierney and Ayala are all good enough, and Rusty is some of the time, but the problem with that is that 3 of those 5 are always injured and another one has a groin strain at the moment.
Peronally, I'd like to see him at the club, but totally disagree with the idea that he is "just the type of player PL would want". "Jay Rodriguez"? Jay? Rodriguez? No no no, PL signs players called Dave, John, Marc, Steve and James. Jay Rodriguez would stick out like a sore thumb.
You can blame lambert for that though cause he got the tactics and formation completely wrong and that is a rareity! You take holt and morison out of the equasion then we have one other striker who has scored and thats only 2 goals, and holt is only getting older. We need a good young hot prosepct of a striker who can come in and play week in week out and get goals for us. Im sorry but if we come august 31st and our strikers our still holt, morison, jackson, vaughan and wilbraham i will not be a happy bunny and im sure plenty of others will not be either! P.S RVP proberbly would have scored for us
I lived in Stoke in the early 90's where is was common to see entire families dressed in matching shell suits. The town always seemed to have far too many perms and 'tashes for my liking (on both genders I am sorry to report). It felt a bit like being in Liverpool without the rampant unemployment and larceny.
