Look, I know this is a bit off topic, but did any of you see the Horizon programme this week, "the truth about exercise"?. I know that some of you guys play football and it's likely that you have some interest in keeping fit. If you spend hours at the gym trying to lose a few pounds, then I certainly would recommend investing a bit of time to check it out. Maybe you could really benefit just as much by doing 3 minutes exercise a week!

It's still available to see on the BBCiplayer, and a fascinating look at the latest research. Those that did catch it, what did you think?

I gave up my gym membership because it was a ridiculous waste of money and I swear it was making me eat more.

Fine, but do check out the programme on iplayer. It really is interesting.:)

Yeah I can see it works for people that want to lose weight. I just want to become a tank, so it's the high protein and intense work outs for me <laugh>

i watched it also and for me the most interesting point was that 25% of people who exercise would get no benefit no matter how hard they try due to there genes and only 15 % get top benefits ,think of the millions of pounds spent by people on something they could never get any physical improvement from

Yes, I do the Gym thing and also play badminton a couple of times a week. Even if someone said it won't make me slimmer (from a bad starting point admittedly) I wouldn't stop because it makes me feel better. I might introduce the 3x20 seconds intense bit into the routine though.
If I was serious about losing weight, I would simply stop pouring red wine down my neck every night. Like that's going to happen! :)

Interesting watch. If you have a desk job then it shows how much fewer calories you burn in a day and how making a conscious effort can make a difference.
