Nice to see Adam Smith not being dropped to prove a point to Andros Townsend.

    Oh, wait...

If you want bad spelling, gaf71 is once again amusing us with his remarkable use of double standards and unbelievable delusion with the sort of spelling and grammar that would make a gastropod wince...

Two utterly predictible things the papers have been up to since the weekend...

1.) After spending the last week building us up, every match report is clearly sticking the boot in. It's not the first time this season - a lot of the reporting after the Man City mugging had a similar slant to it - but it took Arsenal and Chelsea a string of poor results before they started to question the team, rather than a solitary one.

2.) The press has become engulfed in a Scouser fug just because they just about lucked out in a penalty shoot-out to win the Carling Cup, as if the whole country is awaiting Liverpool's return to glory. Apart from the fact they aren't.

Equally predictible is Kyle Walker dropping out of the England squad due to injury. I'll let the rest of you decide if that one deserves inverted commas or not.

Walker spent most of the second half injured though, Croydon.
Redknapp would've taken him off, if he hadn't already used up 2 subs ****ing up our formation completely.
That and our total lack of direct back-up for him, of course.
If he's injured for our next game, then I expect Kaboul to fill in, with Dawson and King in the centre of the defence.

Nathan Byrne's just returned from a long injury too, having been recalled from Bournemouth.
He's not cup-tied, so he may be considered for the Stevenage replay, I guess.
Probably not ready for it, though.

If he's not fit for the Steveange game, we could do worse than play Nelsen at right back with Kaboul and Dawson in the centre.

I'm trying to work out where Byrne should be listed in our right back mountain. Would he be fifth-choice (even though secondf, third and fourth are all out on loan), or should random centre backs and midfielders be included? Still, at least he has experience of playing Stevenage, and might ask why we're playing two defensive midfielders, wing backs, and hoofing it for the first hour...

Our Stevenage tactics baffled me (though so did our tactics yesterday), but I don't think that Byrne was available, come to think of it.
He played in a Spurs XI game against Orient, in which Lancaster scored 4, on the 21st and was recalled on the following day.
The first game against Stevenage was on the 19th, so that would make him ineligible for the replay, wouldn't it?
Given the Nextgen debacle, perhaps somebody should email the club?

Either Walker or Kaboul, for me.
Nelsen's not that mobile and would be better off in the middle, in my opinion.
There's a vague chance that Livermore might end up out there, too.
He did so against Cheltenham, I think.

He finished the game at right back against Stevenage too.

With regards to the tactics against Stevenage, it was the same formation we had against Stoke in the second half which should have won us that game. 'Arry identified them as a similar team but reall it was the wrong players in the system and it's not one that lends itself to many of our players anyway.

I am not sure I follow why he should be ineligible for the replay PNP ?? I am not aware there is a ruling whereby for a player to play in a replayed tie, he has to have been eligible for the original.

Whatever, I have actually seen Nathan Byrne play this season for Bournemouth. coincidentally, it was against Stevenage early in the season. He did reasonably well without being outstanding. Prior to the game, the Bournemouth fans had been disappointed in him as they felt he was a poor replacement for Adam Smith who had done so well for them in the previous season. But with a run of games under his belt, Byrne was just beginning to start winning them over and his injury came at a very unfortunate time for him.

Equally predictable of the papers is they failed to spot the irony of Sasha One Joke Cohen getting ejected from the Oscars for dressing up as a fake dictator, whilst Meryl Streep wins Best Actress for playing a real one...

    Rule 15f.
"All players must have been eligible to play in the original tie in order to play in a replayed or postponed match; however a player who has been suspended according to the disciplinary procedures under the Rules of The Association may play in a postponed or replayed match after the term of his suspension has expired."

    How sad am I? <laugh>

Thanks for posting that PNP. My apologies for doubting you and I am embarrassed to say, I didn't know of that ruling.
