I really hope that we catch Manchest Utd on an off day. I have just been on their page on NOT606 and I cannot find a mention about our game with them on Sunday. They may see this as an easy victory (both fans and players) and if we can frustate them to start off with I think as the game pushes on they will feel the need to push forward and we can try to expose them on the break.

I would play a 4-5-1 with almost 3 holding midfielders starting just infront of the defence. The sound sreally negative but this could protect us conceeding early and having Pilks and Bennett still on the wings who can push forward on the break and deliver quality when needed I think we could cause them problems.

I would like to see:

Ruddy

Martin Whitbread Ward Naughton

Johnson Fox Surman
Bennett Pilkington

Holt

Thshi formation could easily change into 4-4-1-1 if needed as the games moves on. I really have a good feeling about the game but I think a lot depends on how well we match against united tactically.

What are your thoughts?

I can see your thinking but I don't think Lambert will be that negative. We gave them a right go at Old Trafford and the squad has improved since then. I would personally play with Holt up front and have Bennett and Pilks on the wings to try and expose United's weakness on high balls. Probably have Vaughan up top as well as a suprise option.

We have to stop their full backs marauding forward and joining their midfield so I don't think we'll see the diamond. I think two wide men will be the order of the day. Mind you PL has surprised us so many times.

I don't see Russell Martin playing, especially at full back, if Drury is fit. He gets found out for pace all to often at right back

Agree strongly with you,

Ruddy
Naughton-Whitbread-Ward-Drury
Fox-Johnson
Pilkington-Bennett-Surman
Holt

A 4-2-3-1 formation, best to put Johnson on the left hand holding position, seeing as Ward & Drury aren't the quickest of characters at pace currently. RHS is fine, with Naughton and Pilkington and Bennett bombing back

One lone stiker is negative for me. If you go that way Morison has to start.
4 4 2 with Holt and Jackson for me.

Ruddy
R.Martin (can see the Drury argument), Whitbread, Ward, Naughton
Fox
Pilkington, Johnson Surman
Holt Jackson

I can see him going for crosses in the box similar to against newcastle, Lambert will know that most of unites goals conceded recently have been from headers and he may try and exploit it. That or match them in the midfield who knows? ILWT

For me it has to be 4-4-2 with Holt and Jackson upfront. Naughton has to play as does Surman instead of Hoolahan or Fox.

Ruddy
Naughton Whitbred (IF fit) R Martin Drury
Bennett Johnson Surman Pilkington
Holt Jackson

At least we will get more coverage as we are facing Moron Utd and i've heard a few people like to watch their games and apparently they are sometimes featured a little bit on the telly.

norwich 0 Man U 4.
An easy win against a pub team. Relegation a near certainty for you tractor driving newton heath scarf waving muppits next year.

Ignoring the pleb above, I reckon if we bombard De Gea with crosses and balls into the box, we might have some joy. We will have to be on top form just to compete with them, and I fully expect us to rise to the occasion.

Come on you Yellars!!!
