I really don't understand anti-royalists.

They cost us nothing (arguably saving us money by bringing in trade and tourists)
They keep historic buildings in shape that would otherwise fall into ruin or be a burden.
They represent the history of this great nation and what helped form it.
It really pisses the septics off because they can't have one.

I don't think many people are anti-royal, they just don't care. The royal family live in their own world, just leave them to it.

You can't give up now. These ones are just the tip of the iceberg.

Well that seals it. Have you ever seen Paula Bare? Big pause.

They cost us millions. Tourists come and see the buildings and things like the crown jewels. They would still exist and be visited if we got rid of the monarchy, but we'd no longer need to pay for their security and privelaged lifestyles. As a result of the continued tourism the buildings would be maintained. What they represent is far from great, they're born into a position of privelage which it is virtually impossible for them to lose (last blood royal to be stripped of their position?) and which other people cannot even hope to attain. I'm sure some of them are really nice people who use their position to help charities and such like, but it's completely wrong that they're elevated above the rest of us purely because they were born into it.

elrooj,

You might think about pulling that comment about Cov mate, it could go down badly. It's not very funny, we were on the same side & this is a sport we're talking about.

I do see what you say, TC - I was, in fact, referring to our last game with them.

However, I do see how it could be taken as meant in bad taste.

My attitude is that I'll believe in Royalty if it's possible for me to get to be king. This is, after all, supposed to be a "democracy"!
