Can we defeat them? (even though they never did anything to us)

say they bought 23,000 season tickets (that was a number floating around) that leaves 27,000 seats for the club to sell. If we somehow come through this administration nightmare could Rangers FC sell the 27,000 season tickets and then encourage other fans just to buy match tickets every week for the empty seats that ticketus bought or would that be illegal as they "own" the seats?

Dunno, to be honest. But I would imagine Ticketus "own" the seats. They'd have to be pretty ****in stupid otherwise.

No, the ticketus agreement is that they receive the money from the first season tickets sold. We would need to sell more than 23,000 (assuming that's how many they have) before we make any money.

There are not 50,000 season tickets available. I think it would be closer to 35,000-40,000, which would mean our season ticket income could be halved for the next few years <grr>

I don't know how this would work, but Rangers could stop selling season tickets and in their place they could sell match packages. A package of the first 6 home games, 2nd six, 3rd six and then the last home games before and after the split.

They would still get the full whack of money and ticketus would be ****ed.

I think so, not sure what kind of guarantees are in place. It would be quite a high risk market to be in, with everybody feeling the pinch. No guarantee that clubs will sell the number of season tickets ticketus own. With it being high risk, I wouldn't think they have many guarantees of minimum return each season.

All just guess work though, without seeing the contract there is no way of knowing how to get around them.

Ticketus would "own" the seat as one of their season ticket seats, but Rangers sell the seat to the fan on a single ticket basis. The seat wouldn't have already been sold.

Ticketus don't have any claim over any of the seats, they only have claim on the money brought in from selling the first 23,000 season tickets (if that's the right number)

We don't know the nature of the contract with Ticketus. It would have to be pretty ****in weak if the seats could be sold on a match ticket basis out from under them.

Who the **** would pay to watch that ****e anyway? Your top player next season will be David Healy and the rest of your team will be made up of Bosmans and kids.

There are two stories going around

Ticketus gave out a loan and are getting money back via season ticket purchase

    Or

Ticketus bought the tickets at a discount and have the right to sell them on (unlike a supporter)

The first story broke around the same time as the Traynor "exclusive". The first one is essentially a loan

Ticketus said they don't do loans

They said....now I can't remember the exact word but it was either that they own the seats or own the tickets

I believe you can't get any revenue at all from these tickets unless you go bust and restart

Ticketus have said they don't do loans, so can rule out your first story.

On their website it says they purchase the rights to season tickets at a discount price, then sell them to fans at face value through the club. They receive money from the first sale up to the number of tickets they paid for.

So if Rangers sell 35,000 season tickets, Ticketus would be given money (face value of each ticket) from the first 23,000. The next 12,000 tickets sold, the money would go directly to Rangers. This would be repeated for each season Ticketus have bought season tickets for.

If Rangers stop selling season tickets and sell tickets either for single games or in match packages, then I don't see how Ticketus can claim money from Rangers.
