Not a lot happening so I thought I'd get the conversation started.

    Right mid

This is potentially the most debatable position in the first team

Who's your first choice right mid?

Mine would have to be Chaplow, Guly, Puncheon, Steeeeve, Falque??

with guly we seem to play 4-3-3. so guly at home and punch away. on the other hand love what chaplow brings to the table, and if nigel could get steve to look up and cross the ball then probably him first. I`ll leave it to nigel

I think you play different players according to whether we are playing home or away
Home I would play Guly as he is a goal scorer and moore creative (with Punch on the bench) but away I would play Chappers as he is more combative, better tackler etc

Have Saints got two players called Guly? Because the one I see is a very good player and has the trust of the manager.

Guly every time. No contest at all here

You again with no clue about the Saints or football. I feel you are possibly a Pompey fan in disguise putting Guly last at RM and bigging up Dan Harding in the last thread I saw you in

How anyone can overlook the importance of Chaplow just baffles me. We're so much better when he plays. He and Guly have been two of our most influential players this season, so it's a no-brainer.

    Chaplow
    Guly
    De Ridder

Have you forgotten the 10 goals he's scored for us this season?

What's wrong with Harding? Great player.

I personally would play Guly at home and Puncheon for away games - Guly is normally ****e away from home

I like Guly but I think he operates better in a more central position, I think his best position is at the head of the 'diamond' in midfield if we play that system, where his flick-ons and tricks can open up space for others. Realistically he's not going to get many chances up front anymore, and he does seem to struggle away from home, so he might find he won't get as much game time for the rest of the season, and I do wonder about his ability to make the step up to the premier league if we get there.

Have to say if Chaplow can regain the form he showed earlier in the season he'd be my choice every time. Puncheon and De Ridder can come on from the bench or start occasionally when Chappers needs a rest. Or indeed, if one of them hits top form themselves perhaps they can dislodge someone else.
