Apparently he has been jailed for six months for perverting the cause of justice by fraudulently writing fake letters in an attempt to get himself off a speeding charge. Seems incredibly harsh to me, but there's the justice system for you and I guess at the end of the day he has been a silly boy. Really feel for the guy, he's had a pretty rough trot of things since he left us and has battled depression so I imagine a custodial sentence is the last thing he needs. Hope he's ok because he comes across as a lovely fella, though a very vulnerable one, and in my eyes he will always be a Carrow Road legend for his goals against 1p5wich and Man Ure. All the best Leon, keep your chin up son
At least he will be able to look after himself in prison given his pugilistic pedigree. Really sorry to see him plunge to these depths and wish him all the best for the future - with better luck and a more settled personal life he could have been one of the best.
Unfortunately for Leon, the Courts take a very dim view of "perverting the course of justice", it strikes at the heart of everything they (are supposed to) uphold and represent, and can carry a life sentence... At least he's in good company though, it's the same offence that Jeffrey Archer and Jonathan Aitkin were done for!
The stupid thing is, if he'd held his hands up, there is no way he would have faced a custodial sentence! How wonderful is that blasted hind-sight!
And therein is the lesson...try and pervert the course of justice and you'll do time... That's just the way it is...
Shake hands with the devil and you will get burned. It's a shame but he broke the law and now he's got to pay the consequences. Not many lazy bastards who get done for benefit fraud stealing MY MONEY get bird though ! Come the revolution
I know what you're saying, but if a benefit fraudster holds his or her hands up in the Courts, and pleads guilty, they're highly unlikely to get a custodial sentence, if they try and pervert the course of justice, they will... Two different offences...
Much harsher than if he was a Tory,as he wont have gone to school with the judge.I had to laugh when the judge described what he did as "A sophisticated fraud" Even a schoolkid would have seen the downside of using a non existent garage.Did McKenzie think that the rozzers would just say "Well that's alright then"
I've got a tremendous amount of respect for McKenzie especially the work his doing to help people coping with depression.
