If he goes to Wolves it will be good news for Saints - he has done really well at Reading and if he goes Reading may lose some momentum. Glad to see they haven't wasted their time asking NC if they can talk to NA!

McDermott is far better off where he is.

How do you know they didn't ask Cortese..? I'm sure the communication would have gone straight in the bin anyway. ;)

  6. BM would be mad to leave Reading. Hmmm, would you rather live and work in the Midlands or Berkshire? Difficult one that...

I did assume that it would have been reported that Wolves approached Cortese.

with this new russian taking control at reading, maybe McDermott is worried about his future? Given Pompeys experience of wealthy Russian backers, maybe brian can see the writing on the wall!!

He has done superbly well at Reading and his credentials are good.

I think John Madjeski will still have some say in the matter for the moment. Agree with the above - a very astute manager judging by the way his side play and his signings.

Well it's good that they are looking somewhere other than the managerial merry-go-round. I can see them staying up to be honest.

Funnily enough, on the dreaded Talksport, this afternoon [thankfully it was at least Hawksbee & Jacobs], they had a little chat with Wolves fans over their preference for a new manager, and although between then they realised McDermott would be silly to leave Reading, one fan came on and said that, although he knew it would be a long shot, he wanted Nigel Adkins..! This caused more than a little amusement, and Hawksbee remarked that there was more than a good chance that Nigel would be a Premier League manager next season anyway. To which the fan said, Yeah, and they've got millions that we haven't got anyway..! To which everyone agreed.

If Wolves approached Cortese I would have heard the explosion from the Isle of Wight.

imagine the scenario. Nicolas office, the phone rings.

    Nicola : allo

Jez Moxey : Hi Nicola, it's Jez Moxey.

    Nicola : who?

Jez Moxey : Jez Moxey from Wolves.

    Nicola: who? from where?

Jez Moxey : Anway, We would like to talk to Sir Nigel Adkins about the vacancy at Wolves.

Nicola : riotous laughter for 10 minutes.

    Jez Moxey: well can we?

    Nicola : No.

    Jez : why not?

Nicola : stuffing cotton wool into his mouth - "you disrespect me and my club" snaps his fingers. 2 heavies come in, and Moxey is never seen again.

He stuffed wool down his mouth on the phone? Cortese's good but that would be impressive

Having predicted Wolves would try it, he'd already sent Kelvin, Ricky and Tad Lee up to the Midlands to deal with him.

Stuffing cotton wool buds into the sides of his mouth, as he did in The Godfather. <laugh>
