Following impressive away performances by both Peterborough United and Huddersfield do any Saints fans feel that the automatic promotion places are not now a given right for Saints and that it will now need to be won as other teams form improves in tandem with Saints current good form? There is no doubt that Saints will almost certainly be in the play offs to try to achieve Championship club status next season, but could the automatic promotion place behind probably Brighton be slipping away? Is it a case of great expectation, but perhaps a bridge too far, as Peterborough in particular are scoring goals for fun at the moment?
Come on SB3............ "now a given right" whats that all about? You know as well as I the vast majority of fans know it will not be an easy task. So stop being a ruddy drama queen for goodness sake. There is no guarantee Saints are going to be in the play offs either. Yes we do have to earn the right to be promoted. To suggest other wise is ludicrous. Granted hudders and Posh are carving out results the latter just as they were in the early part of the season. Who ever goes up this year is not going to have it easy and our early season results are coming back to haunt us there is no doubt. So what ever results the others turn out we have to turn out better. Sad fact they have the points we have the games..........
Me a drama queen! I know expectations run high on the red side of Hampshire, just pointing out that whilst we are sure to stay in the Championship this season(barring a miracle or a disaster!), Saints have yet to get there. So premature talk of when 'we are in the Championship, we will wave at you when we pass you etc' and we could do a Norwich or Leeds and gain back to back promotion to the Premiership(if indeed either do)! It is massive conjecture, just making that point, thats all!
Oh you mean positive thinking, oh why didn't you say...........You have to admit though your manager has got you punching way above your weight and good luck to you. We did it in a higher league for 27 years of course, so know something of what it's like to have to punch above your weight continually. It will beat you in the End as it did us especially if you do not invest.
I would like congratulate Singing Blue 3 for his amusing and subtle approach to these boards. It must also be some sort of record for him to have the same user ID for so many days. Does he think his keeping his ID is a given right?
I have to agree, in part. Check out Posh's last few games, then Southamptons, do the hokey kokey and it looks to me as though Peterborough will finish in second spot. Which could lead to a Play off final of Southampton v Bournemouth. Imagine that! And, at this juncture, I feel it necessary to point out that it is not the custom to assume too much, for fear of accidents. Not at all I am sure!
Well, I think our excellent goal difference may be important. I don't want it be so. But it is in our favour.
I had a look through and all I can tell is that it's gonna be as tight as a gnat's backside. Although I do note with interest that Peterborough play away at Huddersfield.
Peterborough also have MKDonalds away on monday. Another crucial one for us. Although we know full well we won't win on saturday as we're live on Sky Sports.
Different teams have aplayed a different amount of games so far this season. Look at it this way. If all the top 6 teams play the same amount of games (eg. 37 games) and the other teams that are yet to play 37 win the games that take them to 37 games played, then Saints are in the top 2. I am confident we will gain automatic promotion
Ah, but I will be at St Marys, so they will not be on Sky for me. Also. most of the times I have watched Saints this season, they have won. Since the whole universe revolves around me, then we should be ok. I do hope this helps calm some nerves.
Do you me to buy you a ticket, or will you buy one on the day? Don't forget to wear your shirt so I can recognise you......
everytime my little one goes to saints match we win, we cant make all matches but he has never seen saints lose, we sat right behind goal at chapel end this saturday
"Wembleeeyy, Wembley, we are the famous Southampton and we are going to Wemberley!" Oh wait, we have already lost the play-off semis....therefore "We are staying up sing we are staying up". Just keeping optimistic, what with Peterborough's goal-scoring fetish...
Do be practical Meowth! How are you going to get your armchair through the turnstiles?!!! Leave it behind.
