Blood n thunder draw would be great, but I reckon a narrow win for the jammy hammers.
Tuesday night sure will be intriguing!

West Ham win.....Blackpool, Reading and Brum have just edged they're way into the pack and are going to be our biggest threats.

When people start picking up on spelling mistakes like this one, when people can clearly see what the person meant is just petty <doh>

We won at Blackpool last seaon 3-1 when every team were thumping us and Blackpool were playing decent football and we also beat them 4-0 at our place earlier in the season, so i am hoping for 3 points and that would put us a point above you and we would still have a game in hand over you. good win over Derby btw.

That is a fair point Brooking. I guess Blackpool play quite open and therefore they could come a cropper against a physical side like yourselves, we shall see :).

Congrats to Hoof Ham Utd then...

I guess it shows that a team can cheat 3 games in a row and still pick up 7 points.

With respect, against us, you resorted to the long ball well before we did. We were playing you off the park when we had 11 players on the pitch.

Would you mind explaining your logic that we have cheated 3 games in a row? Do you think we get a player sent off each match on purpose? Against us, Billy Sharp throwing himself on the ground after a a gentle shove would suggest cheating on your part far more than on ours?

We seem to finally be getting into gear this season and the bookies make us odds on for the title. They're not wrong often.

I do hope we go up and that you join us because for no particular reason, I've always liked Southampton.

Im not disputing WHU are picking up the points at the business end of the season.

In answer to your question of course you didnt mean to get players sent off, but the actions of players resulted that you did - the tackle by Nolan v Milwall could have easily injured their player (therefore unfair advantage to WHU), Taylor assaulting Billy Sharp V Saints trying to insinuate he was feining being grabbed around the throat and thrown to the ground ( and please be unbiased - that was no gently shove - if it was please explain why there was no appeal), and a professional foul last night which could have resulted in a equaliser for Blackpool (again claiming and unfair advantage).

Dont get me wrong - my brother is a Hammer and i have nothing against them (apart from a huge dislike of SA and the owners) - but for me WHU always played great football, they were largely the Nottingham Forest of the later years after Cloughie left them. Now the are simply not that team.

Against Saints we played by far the better football - you may have been playing better prior to the sending off but Adkins will and always does constantly change shape/formation during games as we have the ability to do this - my point is WHU dont seem to do this as largely it is rather one dimensional. I remember watching the highlights of the reverse fizture at St Marys a couple of days after I went to the game and the commentator i think used the term "the ball is hoofed up to Cole again". See what I mean.

I think furthermore if you were to engage the neutral fan - Saints are by far the footballing team in the division by a country mile - now I am not saying that will get us promotion - personally I dont think we will, but it is still pleasing from where we have been for the past 2 seasons compared with where WHU cames from the past 2 seasons. WHU will go up though, IMO.

Good luck for the rest of the season...

The red cards have not benefited you, thats for sure, but there has been a number of dubious decisions that have earned you all three points on quite a few times recently. As a quick re-cap, the foul on the Millwall keeper that took him out so a easy goal could be scored. The Forest game, two pens that never in a month of Sundays were pens, just a helping hand from the men in black.
You've spent money, you have a large squad with a lot of quality, I think you will go up. But, it does look like you've had a hand in the tough times.....whether it evens up eventually, I guess we shall see.

Don't care if West Ham and Saints go up as longs as Saints do. Just want the gap to widen to third with a few games left, so we can enjoy the end of the season. We are getting back into form so still very hopeful.

Well put together argument Mate and I cant really argue with a lot of what you say. The big clubs do seem to get the rub of the green with referees.

However. With the Faubert one, it could be argued that the keeper had already punched the ball before Faubert made contact. Also Faubert had tried to stop and had turned around because he had seen the keeper rushing out at him. Im not sure Winston Reid would agree that it was an easy finish! With the forest penalties, yes they were fortunate, however there was at least one other blatant penalty that wasn't given in that game.

I do think that overall these decisions even themselves out but I accept that so far we have had our fair share of luck.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

There you go. A well thought out post with no daft name calling like your one before.

The Nolan sending off was questionable. I personally don't think it should have been a red card but its irrelevent as we won the game despite being a man down anyway.

Do you really believe that the force Taylor shoved Sharp with was enough to send him crashing to the ground? In the modern game I suppose he had to go, but sharp certainly made the most of it. had he stayed on his feet I dont think the red card would have come out. That, my friend, is cheating on sharps part.

The professional foul last night - seeing as we scored a further two goals with ten men, I really cant see that we would have had any problem scoring a few more with 11. Blackpool didn't manage a single shot on target despite having the extra player so I think you are clutching at straws a little there.

I really don't get your next point. We were playing you off the park before Taylor was sent off (outpassing you aswell). Had he not had that rush of blood I really think we would have beaten you easily. It is no real surprise that your game picked up once you had a numerical advantage.

You are wrong about us being one dimensional I am afraid. I wasn't at the game last night but my friend was and he said we were playing some lovely stuff. Also, without wishing to repeat myself over and over, you couldn't cope with the way were moving it round against you for 20 mins last week. We do resort to long ball often and we do it very well when needed. I'd say our style adapts to the situation.

I agree you play some great football and and generally you play a better passing style than us. But you resort to the long ball plenty and in fact you resorted to it long before we did at Upton Park. You move it around quickly and most of the time you keep it on the floor but you aren't some championship Barcelona thats for sure.

There seems to be a lot of anger towards us from your fans which surprises me as I've always liked the Saints.

Anyway time for me to do some work. Hope to see you in the prem next season.

Hi Trixter and Brooking. I suspect when Saints fans think hard about it we will probably realise that we have had the rub of the green from refs as well. Dubious penalties against Watford and Brighton come to mind, then we had some equally dodgy looking decisions go against us away at Brighton as well. None of these were particularly game changing (4-0, 3-0, 0-3) but I can't remember walking home this season thinking Dick Turpin wore a mask.

Anyway, I get the feeling that the whole West Ham play hoofball, Saints play like Brazil thing might be overdone a bit sometimes. To be honest if the Hammers equivalent of Lambert had nodded a long free kick down to the equivalent of Hooiveld to tap in, we would probably be whinging a bit too hard (particularly because he'd already done it once at our place). It was a good win for you yesterday, which is annoying because we have to there and I am certain we won't get such an easy time. Still, I'm pleased to see Blackpool drop out of the promotion picture temporarily at least.

With your game in hand it's going be a big ask to win now, you would have to lose some form for a start. But there's no point us getting upset about that because if you offered us second right now we would say thank you banker, deal.

    Well said.

On some of the WHU points, Billy Sharp did go down like a sack of spuds BUT Taylor raised his hands to him. Even if he had stayed standing Taylor should have gone, in the same way that Rickie had to go against Brighton. I disagree that the latter was not game changing, btw. As for Taylor he was an idiot, and you can see from the reaction of his team mates that they thought so too. That decsion did cost West Ham the win, in my view.

But last night was an amazing result, and well done to WHU's defence for protecting their make-shift goalie so well. I have already said I don't care if WHU finish 20 points above us - as long as we are second! See you next year, hammers.

Hi Qwerty, same as, if you was to offer us second i would take it in a flash even though we are starting to put a run together and our game in hand is away to Peterbrough, its starting to get queeky bum time, lets hope that Birmingham and Reading start to drop some points, we still have to play both of them at our place so maybe we can help us both out by taken points of them.
