Wembley has changed. It isn't the misty eyed "Home of football" anymore.

It's a corporate day out with £8 pints and no soul

I know the fans would make the day, and it'd be great, but it's just an observation.

I couldn't give a stuff how the much beer is there.

My Father-in-Law is a Saints fan and when they won the Johnstones Paint Trophy, he said it was the greatest footballing day in his life since he went to Wembley with his Dad when they last won the FA Cup.

If we got to Wembley, it would be the biggest footballing day of my life, bar none!

I wish you'd told me this sooner, I wouldn't have got my hopes up.

Cant believe Beefy you show such contempt towards the FA cup?
As Carra said a wembley day out would be second to none !
If this is how City are to treat the competion in the future, then let us know so we can save a few quid please!

I was just 10 years old when we won the FA cup at Wembley and although it was 34 years ago no one can ever take away those fantastic memories! The way the FA Cup has opened up this year you would have stood a great chance of getting into the final if you avoided Spurs on the way there! Untold riches would have awaited you for getting to the final. As a Town fan I am of course delighted that you got beat but shame on some of you for being so dismissive of the greatest football competition in the world.

Agre.... Sorry, I can't say it!

The FA cup isn't something that can be dismissed but it certainly doesn't mean as much as it used to. Don't shoot the messenger guys, i'm by far not the first person to mention this.

Staying in this league and finishing well is the most crucial thing this club has done in recent times. By going out of the cup we aren't out forever. Next year we'll have another crack and we'll see where it goes. The reaction to this whole match from all quarters has just confused me. Leicester fans reacting like they've just saved the galaxy from the Imperial Empire, and Norwich fans taking it harder than any defeat we've suffered under Lambert

I'll just be glad to put the whole thing behind us and move on. This dwelling does no good.

Ok, now that the dust has settled and my anger has subsided a bit, only a bit as you shall see,
here's my take on yesterday's game. As I write it's 6.00pm on Sunday, up until now I've been
'spitting feathers' and unable to post on here, I've read no other threads.
No-one is a greater admirer and supporter of Paul Lambert than me and I've
heaped praise on him for two and a half years, he has been without doubt our saviour.
However, no-one is totally exempt from critiscism and Paul you are now going to get
it with both barrells. We currently sit eighth in the Premier League and have amassed
an incredible 35 points so far, well done and thankyou. If we only win one more game between
now and the end of the season, IMO it would take Champions League form from the dross in the
bottom three places to overtake us. We were in the last sixteen of The F.A. Cup with many top
sides already knocked out, we had an excellent opportunity to progress and be only ONE
WIN away from a Wembley appearance.
So what does the great man do ? He belittles the competition by fielding a team,
that had he done so in a League fixture, we would have sent in the men with white coats.
I'm bittlerly disappointed, angry and feel extremely let down. I don't give a toss about perhaps finishing
a few places higher in the table and receiving another million quid, in years to come who's going
to remember a slightly higher league finish? I thought football was about winning games,
winning trophies. Younger fans on this forum probably think money is more
important than winning The Cup and that, I'm afraid, is symptomatic of today's sad society.
Our last league game was a week ago we have no other fixture until next Sunday,
why do players need to rest ? Total bollocks, I thought todays professional footballers were,
(I use the term loosely), athletes? An 'athlete', believe me, can run around for more than ninety
minutes in fifteen days. Why does John Ruddy need a rest FFS ? Don't give me the
'to give young Jed first team experience crap', send him out on loan when Declan Rudd is fit if
you want to do that. Why wasn't Grant Holt even on the bench ? When we needed a goal yesterday,
he would have inspired the rest of the team and no doubt we would have got that equaliser.
Ok, what other excuse do we have for fielding an understrength team? Injuries, we don't
want to risk getting injuries. Most injuries to today's professional footballers happen on the training
ground FACT. There's just as much chance of pulling a hamstring or whatever while training.
Paul, I'm gutted, you've let ME down if no-one else. When City take to the field against
Manchester United next week, it had better be a 'blood and guts' performance and not the shower of
****e we had to endure yesterday.
One final point, it has been well documented that Paul Lambert has styled himself on a
certain Mr Martin O'Neill. Well, this theory has just been blown out of the water, look at the side that
he fielded against Arsenal yesterday and look at the result. A virtual full strength line up that has now
seen his side progress into the quarter-finals, nuff said.
No doubt several of you are going to pick this post to bits and argue PL's case and that's
fair enough, but it won't change my opinion of yesterday's events. Of course I still have complete faith
in our Manager, we all make mistakes but yesterday's IMO was a big one.

RANT OVER

I'm still signing off with ............

OTBC ..... CTI<ghost> .... IN LAMBERT WE TRUST !

well its nice to see at least one norwich fan has taken the defeat well..<laugh>

Im with you kick it off,my best day as an ncfc fan was the 85 cup final, will never forget how proud i felt that my team had won the league cup,so to say i was disapointed with firstly the team that was fielded yesterday, and secondly the effort shown by some of the players, is an understatement.

For ****s sake lets get this in perspective, we got knocked out of the FA Cup in the 5th round, not the Quarters, Semis or beaten in the Final. To hear some people talk on here we'd have only had to turn up for 3 more games to have won the bloody thing <doh>

It's disappointing but jeeeeez lets have a reality check here. If you'd have been giving me 9th place in the Premier League with 35 points and 13 games still to play (but we'd just been knocked out of the FA Cup in the 5th round) at the beginning of the season I'd have bitten your hand, arm and bloody head off.

Paul Lambert gets berated because he suggests the Man Utd game is more important, as much as it pains me to say it....... isn't it? And because he says it publicly the players don't turn up because he doesn't want us to be in it. What utter ****!!!!!! PL never publicly blames his players when they play badly, do they take it from that that they can play however they want. Of course they don't, because he would give them a bloody good talking to but it would be behind closed doors. For PL not to go into every game wanting to win is just utter crap, it's not in his nature. Where have some of you been for the last two and a half years?

And what's worst about all this is that some of our fans sound like the Premier League fans we were only moaning about last year. You know the ones who are so far up themselves they think Football League sides are beneath them, who can't possibly see their team beaten by one of the unclean from beneath. Leicester have some good players and are a good side who on the day outplayed a Premiership side and deservedly beat them. To not acknowledge that to be the case makes me ashamed of our normally excellent support

What was wrong with the team that was fielded for crying out loud??!! It should have been easily good enough to have won the game but on the day too many players didn't perform anywhere near their best (which does tend to happen now and again believe it or not) and, more to the point, Leicester played very well, far better than us and thoroughly deserved to win.

Think I need to log off for the night, this is getting ridiculous. There are only so many times I can state the obvious over and over yet still read more negative dribbling frm people who think we have a divine right to win every game against a team below us in the table.

AMEN BROTHER!!

This one has got the juices flowing hasn't it. I think its basically a problem of how long it takes to get over it. Personally, I was before the final whistle had blown. I might sound like a traitor but I didn't want an equaliser. Two goals yes. I remember the 72 League Cup Final when Forbes missed a simple header near the end and to be honest everyone heaved a sigh of relief. We were in the ****e in the league and we didn't need to travel to OT for a replay on the Wednesday. Thats not defeatist, traitorous or disrespectful, its just how we felt.
Some of you guys have taken the match badly and you might well do after each defeat and lets face it by the end of the season I predict we will have more defeats than wins. Some are pragmatic enough to see it as a loss and thats it.
PL put a team out that would and should have beaten Leicester. He couldn't predict that so many of them would play that badly and all at the same time. I don't think its a question of them wanting it more. I just think we played one out football. The commentator said each group ie defence, midfield and front runners all seemed divorced from each other. I don't think a half time talk from Churchill would have made any difference. I don't think he was dissing the FA Cup with his remarks. I think he was asked a question and responded with a list of priorties, and I don't doubt he would have been asked the same question by MaccA.
I don't understand the reason for resting players. Most of them haven't played every game so its now February and they've only taken part in 27/28 games. I can't help it but I just remember the days when players wanted to play every game and went to see the manager if they didn't. But I guess the game has moved on like it or not.
I would love to have taken my Grandson (called Keelan) to Wembley. I don't think you can put a cost on it. To see his face when they walked out would certainly been worth more than £8 of gnats piss in a silicon glass. Wembley still has a magical ring to it and is still the mecca of football.
As a finisher, the commentator said there was booing as they walked off at half time. I assume it was good natured and just a silly reaction to the dross they had just witnessed.

I'm certainly not dismissive of the cup - I would love Norwich to win it - if only to shut you lot up.

Ok, sorry if I've upset many of you football is an emotional game and is 'all about opinions', let's leave it there.
We are all City supporters after all.

eeore, we appear to have been at loggerheads, I hold out the olive branch and hope we can still debate together
without trading insults. Yes, I know I started it and I apologise <ok>

this!!

No worries mate, at the end of the day if we all thought the same thing it would a boring old place, I just hope that common sense prevails at the end of the day <ok>

Key points for me were:
1. The team selected should have been able to compete with Leicester.
2. Leicester played well, we didn't and they deserved their win. End of.
3. I was disappointed that GH did not make the bench as I do think that he could have inspired the team had he come on for the last half hour at 1-1.
4. I don't think that we will have a probelm surviving and whilst I accept that £750k/place is well worth fighting for our best chance in the cup for a significant number of years was important to me, and reading this thread, to a number of others.
5. Given our current league position I for one would trade defeat against Man U (which, let us be realistic is the most likely result) for getting through to the last eight of the FA cup although in the unlikely set of circumstance that we get a result on Saturday at we stay up by that margin I will happily come onto this forum and consume an entire weeks worth of production from the Humble Pie kitchen!

I do think that PL missed a trick here as, it has to be said, he also did at Sunderland IMO however, considering how far he has taken the club this season on the resources he has available to him it seems churlish to criticise. Yes we lost an important match but we have won others which will keep us up and stabilise the long term future of the club so a bit of perspective may be in order.
