Along with the increasing calls for AVB to be sacked, we see the same increase in praise for David Luiz. Seems we can be patient with some , but not others. We also see that the "gang of 5 " are cutting up rough, texting a former coach, whinging about everything to do with AVB and generally making ring pieces of themselves as usual. That should not be a surprise, as they have been doing the same since Mouhrino left. These players have everything to lose if a big clean out takes place. Their massive salaries, their dressing room power, their cushy lifestyles. All associated with things off the pitch. Conversely, with one possible exception, none of them is doing bugger all ON the pitch. I strongly suspect, despite playing 3rd division football, there have been no offers to take a salary cut to 3rd division level. AVB has not been great. Could anyone else have done more while being undermined by half the team ?? Has anyone heard any criticism of AVB from Mata, Romeu, Luiz, Ramires, Torres, Brana, Cahill ??? Funny that. I think we are staring over the edge. Do we sack AVB and keep the status quo, thus extending the problem for another season ? Or do we clear out the overpaid dross NOW and give the man some assistance and support ? No guesses where I stand.
Just an outsider giving my tuppence, give him a chance. This is a poor squad, although still better than Arsenal and Liverpool's, and AVB should be given a chance to clear out the dross and bring in some young, hungry, talented players that want to play for Chelsea.
I see and agree with what you're saying to some extent, but as I've said in another thread, it's the fact AVB keeps lining up with the same wallys that are costing us games, not hard to drop Malouda or Bosingwa and actually play Cahill instead of being a stubborn twat and equally easy to play youth and have a bit of confidence in them.
Maybe he thinks if he drops Malouda it will cause more anger and unrest in the dressing room? It's a very tough situation to be in ( having all these big egos to control ) , i feel quite sorry for him and i'd hate to see your club sack yet another manager. Football these days is becoming ridiculous with all these sackings, i'm sure Chelsea will be back near the top sooner rather than later though you just need to get some of these players out. Doesn't make it easier for you lot either considering there's a different story every day spouting some sort of rubbish and increasing pressure even more, look on the bright side though, least your not in Arsenals position.
If AVB came benched the clear dead wood players then I would have more sympathy, but no, he continually plays them.
I agree completely with the OP Along with the Mourinho texting gang we have continually got Sturridge moaning which doesnt help, he was told to do something against United and that was track Evras forward runs, and at 3-0 he needlessly gave away a penalty, hes a lazy guy and at least Torres tries to put the effort in In the summer never mind a striker my priority would be two wingers and a leftback Mata can be put into the middle with De Bruyne being third choice winger Courtois is having a storming season too and 6 clean sheets in a row prove this, he looks a great prospect Lets try something different against Birmingham, they are championship and we have enough to put them away -------------------------------Cech--------------------------------- Hutchinson(c)---------Cahill----------------Luiz------------Bertrand -----------------Meireles-------------------Romeu----------------- Kalou-------------------------Mata--------------------------Piazon ------------------------------Torres--------------------------------- The bolds all have something to say about them Hutchinson,Bertrand and Piazon need to be given proper game time, no point shoving him on 2-0 down to Everton like Bertrand was Cole, Bosingwa, Malouda have all had spots because the others havent had the game time Kalou if available I would give a chance as Sturridge is moaning too much and Malouda has been pants, other options are Lukaku or Drogba to play but id give Kalou a full game with Drogba for Torres, Lukaku for Piazon and Lampard coming on for Mata When we play Napoli I expect this to be the team Cech Ivanovic - Luiz - Terry - Cole Essien - Meireles Sturridge - Lampard - Mata Torres or Drogba Not entirely happy with it especially the old legs in midfield but hope for a score draw and take them back to the Bridge
As an outsider looking in you've got to give the bloke time to make mistakes and build his own team. It might mean a few years of relative mediocrity by which I mean possibly not finishing in the Champions' League places rather than Tuesday nights in Barnsley, but I think you have to let Boas get rid of all this old guard who have way too much power and build a young team that can play in something like his style which is currently probably a bit naive for this country. I personally can't stand Boas but getting rid of another manager after a year or less can't do anyone any good.
To Drogs and Varier, Hear you loud and clear, but do you think it's possible that AVB is being pressured to play these twats because he would get even more grief from above if he played the kids and failed ?? Who knows, but it seems logical that he couldn't be so dumb as to not see what we all see. ?? To the others, nice to see some intelligent input, and to JCC87, very good call. Your teams for FA and Napoli are pretty much what I would do as well. Blend of wise heads and pure energy. For Gods' sake, they're ALL bloody good players, give it a fly.
CP-- There is unease in the camp and its clear to me that its inspired by the English players. JT has full sway on the pitch and in the dressing room. It seems to me , if he wanted it everyone would be behind AVB ! Parking Lamps on the bench, rightly so in my opinion, went down badly, and now he has created a clique who conspire against him. Lets face JT , Lamps, Cole are not far from hanging up their boots, but while they're still on mega wages they must, let the man in charge call the shots without question . Roman's not stupid--he needs to get them in the dressing room--and bang their heads together!
Maybe it's all part of a cunning plan to show them up for the lazy good-for-nothing's they have become and get some backing from Roman et al to get rid of them....
I think AVB was brought in to bring a revolution, so it would be hypocritical if they then criticised him for doing what they wanted.
I am in two minds, as he is pissing me right off and I believe that another manager in the Guus or Jose mould would get more out of the team. That said I don't see the value of sacking him, and feel that he should just show his hand and play whoever he feels will do the job, youth or experienced as it's not working at the moment. If he ****s it up he'll walk away with two years salary and straight into another job, but at least he'll have some dignity for doing it his way.
To be fair, I think he has done it his way. He has given Sturridge a lot of games that he hadn't had up until this year, Torres has been benched despite the massive price tag as has Lampard, despite the status and other 'first teamers' such as Malouda, Mikel etc have been benched also (except where ACON and injuries have meant we have had to revert). Romeu was given a chance also and has done well. Some of his selections are baffling but I don't think he's just playing the names or being told who to play. I just think he was very niave with the high line thing earlier in the season and we have never really recovered due to the pressure some bad results had on the team and the pressure of this fight to remain in contention. I think he has probably lost parts of the dressing room too (Lampard, Malouda, Anelka and Alex all spring to mind) and we have a lot of good players out of form. Drogba, Torres, Cole, Lampard, Malouda etc are all good player but have had few good games between them. At what point that is the managers fault I guess is open to debate. Top 4 is still there for the taking and Arsenal's performance last night has given me a little more hope that their usual end of season capitulation will still happen. If AVB can make it to the summer, get C.L football and a good cup run maybe he can start again next year. Either way, whoever comes in has got to start changing things. Ancelotti also has to shoulder some of the blame as he basically kept the ageing team together as well without bringing on their replacements in any way.
Our team is just generally weak, we used to have an amazing bench.. we dont anymore. Cant judge boas wholey on this squad which is just broken and off and stinks. Boas for me is honest and not afraid to do it his way. I commend that and like Boas a lot. We should just support him this season and start judging him next season.
Couldn't agree more.Think the wiser heads now concede that the best way forward is a clean out and revitalised team for next season. If he sticks to the team being played now, we'll struggle for 4th place. If he switches to some youngsters, we will still probably still struggle for 4th place. I'd try the latter in the FA Cup, and be a bit more cautious in the PL. The CL I fear is beyond us, but give it our best. The "gang of 5 " need to be absolutely shredded by AVB AND the owner. Since "You don't know what you're doing " topped the CFC charts last week, perhaps a special song for the bludgers might have some effect??? As for AVB, as frustrating as it is week on week, personally I'm biting my tongue and trying to convince myself it will be better next season. Once worked with a group of grumpy people who managed to destroy the career of a very good man. Can't help but see the similarities here. Count me on the side of AVB.
Agree with all this. Last Saturday, after the Everton game, I was furious with AVB and wanted him sacked. After cooling off and thinking about things I realised that sacking him was not the way forward. He has come in to revamp and rebuild the squad. A squad with over paid cry babies who think they own the club. I really hope RA stays strong and gets rid of the gang of 5. In fact he would only have to get rid of 2 or 3 and the rest would soon fall into line. It has to be made clear that the manager is going to manage and, IF the 5 are asked to play, that they do it to the best of their ability. If they don't or won't then show them the door. They earn fantastic money at CFC and it's time they earnt it. What they did 5 years ago means nothing now so it's time to forget the tantrums and start performing. End of!
