http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17042572 Bit of a shocker this. A man linked with various higher jobs getting sacked. Especially since they are still unbeaten in the last 427 matches.
...this is the most random scaking i've seen, surely if he was being touted by other higher clubs they could have got a pay out. Madness!
Mental. Imagine sacking your manager when he has got you to 4th in the league and near automatic promotion and he is being touted by other higher clubs? Oh wait... Perhaps he went for Leeds or Wolves and the owners got the hump?
Well, unless there is something deeply sinister that we are not being told, this looks completely bonkers. Clark is a rising star. A tadge irritating, but looks like he has the full package and destined for better things. Can only think, as Kish suggests, that he's gone fishing and pissed people off. Bet Rhodes is pleased that he ignored the offers and stuck around in January!
It's a strange thing, but from reading some of the Terriers boards, a lot of the fans up there don't think half as much of Clark as outside observers. There seems to be a general view that with the playing resources they've got, including one phenomenally talented striker, they should have been up and away by now, in fact they should have done it last season. My view is that this is a mistake, but primarily of timing. As far as his future is concerned, I seriously doubt whether he'll be out of work long and it's certainly going to make the situation at Leeds very interesting.
Just checked on a Terriers board since my first post and its amazing! They are not just happy, they have broken open the champers and have thrown a party!!! Just goes to show how wrong external apperances can be. I mean anyone out there would think we were playing brilliantly to be eight points clear!!! Get's coat and retreats....................
Would still think that Leeds will plump for McCarthy over Clark. Very bizarre to sack someone who could be worth a bit through tribunals etc. I would guess that there has been a behind-the-scenes bust-up (I apologise for the excessive amount of hyphens) because the Huddersfield Chairman says that 'concerns have been raised over recent weeks' - who knows
Looks like Clarks not happy... "PA Sport understands that Lee Clark is considering launching an unfair dismissal case via the League Managers' Association."
Good for him as they could be in breach of contract and more managers should use the tribunals service when there is no justification in their dismissal. Clark could make an excellent Championship manager.
Haven't seen udders as a threat for a long time. They have gone ever so slightly backwards in the past 12 months, but not enough to sack him. He was only linked to bigger jobs a few weeks back.
Huddersfield's loss with be someone elses gain. I can't see him being out of work long. Maybe I'm reading too much into things here but, maybe Huddersfield "need" promotion and they've panicked. Them hanging onto their top scorer and best player was a signal of intent.
We sacked our Manager last season with us in third and with the January Transfer Window to try and improve the Squad and look where we ended up, Huddersfield have done the exact same much later and could end up doing the same (it seems they never recovered after losing at the Valley). He'll definitely take over @ Leeds, good luck to him - Didnt deserve to be sacked just the pathetic reality we live in these days
I cant see this being the case else I feel they'd have offered Rhodes to clubs in January, instead they said he's going no where to help them get promotion (and if they fail I'm sure he'll probably go for £2-3m) Please Please Slater making him our top summer transfer target...
Promotion and the increase in revenue that would bring is worth much more to Huddersfield than whatever fee they may or may not have been able to get for Rhodes. Who knows. It's certainly a strange one that's for sure. Whoever takes over will have to work with a collection of players who have been put together by Lee Clarke. Said man will have little opportunity to change personnel. It didn't work for us when Powell took over from Parky, and was forced to work with a group of players who were unable or unwilling to grasp his way of doing things.
