I have to hold my hands up here and admit that I was one of the (it has to be said) many, who didn't rate John Ruddy at first. However, it gives me great pleasure to be wrong (for once!!). What a revelation he's been, even when everyone kept banging on about City not having kept a clean sheet, he was rarely at fault for the goals conceded. IMO he must surely be a 'shoe-in' for an England call-up, apart from Hart who is better ? Come on Mr Pearce, give him 45 minutes against the Dutch to see what he can do !

    Thoughts ?

Just saw this on twitter, though must confess, not sure how cast-iron the figures are.

John Ruddy is 6/4 to make the final England Euro Squad with Grant Holt is a big outsider at 33/1.

Ruddy HAS to be ahead of Stockdale, surely?!

ok we are all biased but for me i've not seen a better keeper (bar joe hart of course) all season, and i include the foreign keepers too. vorm and krul have rightly received many plaudits and so too has big john but he should be an absolute shoe-in to go to the euro's. if he doesn't get in you have to wonder what the england staff are watching! the only flaw in his game is that he sometimes fail to come and collect crosses which might be within his reach. but as flaws go, thats one that can be ironed out in training. he also has the presence on the field (stockdale hasn't got this) which is important for a keeper and something i think he has worked on - he is a big man but you need to have more than physicality. he has improved steadily ever since we signed him and i think he can get even better <ok>

never doubted him, never signed up to the Frasier Forster rubbish, he was good in L1 against L1 attackers with a defence in front of him fit for the Prem.

Ruddy is brilliant and always will be, if he dont go to the Euros he must be in the GB squad, which I think Holt should captain!

I think he's brilliant but I hate to admit it, I think Stockdale is better. No reason why he can't be third choice though. Apart from Yakubu's goal when we played Blackburn, I'd say he hasn't made any big mistake (Or at least made mistakes and been punished for them)

DM - what on Earth do you base that fact on? Since Stockdale left Ipswich, they have conceded fewer goals, and Fulham conceded more while he was 'keeper!

agree with dave. stockdale is clearly a talent but he is very raw at the moment - whenever he plays his team concede a barrel full of goals. with ipswich i could understand, but how come fulham started leaking goals left right and centre? as soon as schwarzer was back they stopped! he is a brilliant shot stopper but he has so many aspects of his game which are very weak - his distribution is awful at times, something you could not label at ruddy. euro's is too early for stockdale - he is still a club number two!

I think had Crappello remained at the helm, Ruddy would have had no chance of being picked <doh> With Stuart Pearce now in temporary charge you never know <ok>

SP was quite complimentary about us when the under 21's played at FCR, so one never knows!

Ruddy has grown into an excellent keeper. He's even not to bad at pens although I think he could have had a better effort at Graham's lady week. Wasn't the best penalty.
He major flaw, and he's clearly worked on it recently, is when he goes to the near post. he's gone to the near post missed the cross and been nowhere for the strike a couple of times. Bents goal at villa is a good example. But as I say I think he looks much more assured there recently.

I've always been a fan of JR - ever since the beginning of last season. I know most Canaries fans wanted us to sign FF, but I always felt his kicking was weak. Yes, JR makes mistakes, but I think both Hennessey and De Gea (to name but 2) have made lots more this season.

Felt he was tamely beaten by Graham's penalty on Sat!! <grr>

People can have their opinions on Holt

But if Ruddy doesn't get called up theres no justice, or crucially intelligence, left at the FA

If torres was in a Liverpool shirt this pic would be a lot more impressive. With Torres in a Chelsea shirt i think Ruddy might as well go and get a sandwich, still no chance of him scoring.

Apparently Torres has started a new prematch ritual to try and ease the pressure on himself.

I heard John Terry ran to training today. He'd heard that they were going to watch a video of Torres' misses
