Interesting comparison, young man. But we've had scoring CBs ourselves in the past, so no need for the ancient or Leeds comparison. I particularly loved Killer's two headers at Anfield and then Maine Road for what turned out to the winner in each case. Yes, Hoover does it for me. Oh happy days

I meant to do an article on Hooiveld... Definitely our best defensive find for sometime. His presence reassures the rest of our defence and it is no coincidence we are conceding less once again. Considering Leicester paid 5 million for Matt Mills, I think we have done rather better.

Hooiveld was easily are man of the match, since he has joined he as made fonte seem half the player he was.

That's true, and I personally still think Fonte's been very good. Hooiveld has definitely surpassed him though, personally unexpected.

I'm sure anyone who was there will agree he was MOTM. Absolutely bossed it out there.

Having eyes at the side of your head must be a huge advantage for a defender:smile:

You say that as a joke, but scientists believe wide set eyes are a huge reason for Rooney's success because he has greater peripheral vision, so it could well be the case with Jos.

There was a documentary on it once! Whether it's a real marginal difference as you'd expect (or I would anyway) or genuinely a big reason I don't know, but if it's true it explains Hooiveld!

Yes. Jos is a very likable character, and I feel much happier when he is in the team. I think secondstain you could be right, he might end up a bit of a saints legend.

His reaction to scoring last night was brilliant. Nearly as excited as I was.

If you get a chance, Google Hooiveld Twitter, he is a funny and likeable guy, very supportive of other players, especially Billy Sharp.

He always seems to be meeting up with players from former clubs of his as well as getting on really well with the current lot. Seems to be loved wherever he goes by teammates - it's a shame for Celtic they missed a trick with him!

Seen his interview? Reminded me of a few blokes I was lucky enough to work with over the years - the sort you love to have a beer with after work 'cos they are always a bit of a laugh, but also pretty sharp. Best buy? He must be up there, but I still think Fonte is a class act. Maybe we are seeing a new Claus/Killer partnership developing?
