Wonder how much Rangers were offering in January for the legend that is GH given their move towards administration?

I know Lambert is from north of the border but surely it would take more than their top offer of a haggis, a case of buckfast and a CD of The Proclaimers Greatest Hits to tempt him to consider parting with the skipper!

Not that I can imagine he was considering a move but GH must be so relieved not to be playing for a club who can't afford his wages. There is a lot to be said for cutting your cloth accordingly and is yetanother reason why I am so happy with the current administration at fortress Carrow Road.

i said at the time, knowing the position rangers were in, the bid for grant holt was nothing more than a token gesture to their fans, to make it look like they at least tried to sign a replacement for jelavic. they bid for a player who they knew they had no chance of actually getting, for a ridiculously low price <ok>

I heard a rumour, although twitter based, that they only offered half a million and were basically laughed at and hung up on, but needed to make an offer to placate the fans saying they can't just sell their top striker.

They only tried to buy him so they would have something of value for the administrators to sell...

Could be the final nail in the coffin of Scottish football. They aren't going to be able to buy any decent players for a while meaning Celtic will clear up everything for the foreseeable future and will completely kill of the league

This could be a hugely destructive blow to Scottish Football.

I wonder if it got bad enough Celtic would try and jump into the english league, If the money isn't there from TV Celtic or any of the other leagues can function.

Mass exodus from the scottish league?

I'm pretty sure the Premier League voted against any proposal of the Old Firm joining the EPL any time soon a few years ago, and it was a fairly large majority too. I don't mind them joining the English leagues, but only if they start at the very bottom and work their way back up.

Apparently they also offered a DVD box set of Rab C Nesbitt, a night with Lorraine Kelly and as many deep fried Mars bars as Holty could eat.

Paul Jewell would bite their hand off for an offer like that.

If rangers get a 10 point deduction they will still easily finish second

Isn't this something to do with rules in paying players (the 50 mil debt to the tax man)

This is really bad news. If the SPL is in disarray, where are we going to unearth future gems like Mark Fotheringham <yikes>

I now fear greatly for the future of our once massive football club!

With Scotland soon to have a referendum on independance WTF would we accept an Irish / Scottish / Catholic bigoted arsehole of a club into the EPL ? I know PL is ex Celtic but I'm afraid I'd NEVER welcome them to the EPL

The fact is that both 'old firm' clubs would struggle in the Championship let alone the EPL
