Eden Hazard has agreed to join Spurs at the end of the season according to France football magazine http://www.francefootball.fr/#!/news/2012/02/13/192150_hazard-a-choisi-tottenham.html
I can't see how we could possibly afford him given the figures that have been mentioned in the past... Also Ade or not, a striker is still surely the priority, no?
Big news if true - and a huge slap in the face for the Chavs who already were writing his name on the team sheets for next season. Dont know enough about him to decide whether this would be a good signing for us
A Geordie by the name of Lewis Hamilton posted this on the match thread a while ago, DD. Not sure what to make of it, to be honest. Seems highly unlikely to me, so I'll just wait til he's holding up the shirt at the Lodge, if it happens. His comments about choosing the right club, where he'll be in a good side, but not too far down the pecking order, sort of ring true. You'd have thought that someone with a lot more money than us would be in for him though, as he's a high profile youngster.
It seems unlikely to me as well, but there's often no smoke without fire. I like the bit where he says Spurs suit his ambitions as they will be playing in the Champions League next year.
I doubt it's true. With apparent question marks over 'Arry's future I can't see us making signings until we have the manager situation sorted, one way or the other.
I still think that Levy runs some of our transfer dealings off his own opinion, YV. Modric was one of his and van der Vaart's move had virtually nothing to do with Redknapp, bar his agreement to it at the last minute, by all accounts. If there's someone with undoubted talent that we can acquire and who'll seem like a coup, I think Levy just does it and works it out with his manager later. This is both a positive and a negative, for me.
Hmmm... According to Google Translate, Hazard has agreed a deal to join Tottenham, subject to the two clubs agreeing on a fee. This might take a long time to do since Levy drives a hard bargain. Looks a prospect. Not always that a proven player in the French Ligue can hack it in the Premier League so he'll have a lot to prove if he comes.
VDV was undoubtedly a bargain but Hazard is supposed to cost £20mill+. Where did you hear that about Modric, by the way? I'd always thought that was Comolli's one saving grace.
Interesting suggesting, DD. Pretty young, taken a club with relatively little recent success to a league and cup double... You could see how he'd be a consideration, can't you?
Garcia has sort of Wenger credentials, french, retired from playing early, went to University, got a degree. He played with management, didn't do too much, then took a coaching qualification. He preaches attacking football, they call Lille 'Barcelona of the North'.
Sounds like a lot of bollocks to me. Unless the club knows something about future player movements that we are not privy to. Modric on his way, perhaps?
I was always under the impression that Levy made that one happen, YV. Not part of Comolli's young and English blueprint, which he's tried to recreate at Liverpool, though I guess Boateng and Kaboul weren't, either. I'm pretty sure that the talk at the time was that the Chairman brought Modric in, though. The pictures at the time would suggest that he did, too. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/f...rsenal-chelsea-to-eden-hazard-video-evidence/ âMaybe Iâll go to Tottenham. Itâs a great English club. I said I would go to Englandâ â Eden Hazard on Belgian TV RTBF this evening. Bit of a kick in the teeth to Wenger if he does go to tottenham given we have been following since he was nine probably. Do they have the money to buy him though?
PNP, KH, Spurf - can this be merged with the other Hazard thread or is that not possible because it is also on the wooden spooners board?
Looks like we were talking to Brad Friedel then too! Young and English was Levy's transfer model and it also included anyonelse they felt certain would have a greater sell on, that was in existence when Arnesen was there too. I've no doubt Levy went into the negotiations but I think it's fair to say that Comolli had a big say in recommending the players and giving idea how badly we should be wanting them. Levy may have been to thank for going in for him before the World Cup to get there before anyone else but we don't really know.
