I'm not an angry confussed person like you. I'll put that down to your menopaus. I'm the exact opposite in fact.

    Top tip boy!

Don't try and use similar metaphors to those that have been used against you! <ok>

It makes your lack of intelligence stand out, like a fat skunk with his top off. <ok>

    Mate,

Me and you get along canny, and as you know, I certainly don't shoot you boys down for the sake of it.

    HOWEVER,

If you finish 1 point or even 6-10 points off 4th, then there is severe and clear evidence that our Premier League is on the decline, you have some smashing players, but if what you have is even close to 4th best in the land, then our 'best league out there' claims are ****ED forever.

You know it, I know it.

You'll finish 6th or 7th, and that's a smashing season, but you will be way back from 4th.

If not, our league is in terminal decline. Simple as.

I wasn't trying...... As you can clearly see, I did it. I'll go down your route here and "assume" you are a bitter old fart judging by your constant use of the word boy. Where you are factually wrong with your statement I would say I'm pretty much dick on with my "assumption" you are going through menopause as you are clearly in possesion on a fanny.

I really wouldn't go that far.

Players like Krul, Tiote, Cabaye, Coloccini, Saylor, Ba and so on. Are they within the top 4 or 5 of their respective positions in the league? Yeah, probably. If you put players like that together, and form great partnerships which allow both players to equal a greater sum than their individual parts, then you're going to get a team who can be up there fighting around that area.

We've been lucky in how players have combined to form partnerships. Coloccini and Saylor combined to become a CB pairing which lead to one of the best defences in the league until Saylor got injured. Likewise, Tiote's defensive abilities combined with Cabaye's creative attacking nature is a perfect partnership. Not many teams get balances like that spot on, but we're lucky to have done so, and this is the result.

Hopefully we can now get Ba and Cisse finding a strong partnership, and then we'll have a very solid spine down the centre of the XI.

Mind you, I actually don't think we're the 4th best team in the league by any stretch of the imagination, but football is unpredictable, and if a rare opportunity arises to take advantage and reach 4th, then we'll have to try and take it. That's just how football is sometimes.

Why would that mean the Premier League is on the decline? A more competitive Premier League with more competition for 4th place is a healthier Premier League than the same 4 for 10 years in a row if you ask me.

I look at the sides going for 4th spot and they're Arsenal , Liverpool and Chelsea. On our day , with all our players fit we'd be a damn good game for any of these 3 and none of these three are 'miles' ahead of us in any way shape or form at the moment.

What is it , 14 games to go until the end of the season? I don't see why we shouldn't push for fourth place , and if it fails and we end up in fifth or sixth then it's still a successful season but who knows? Nobody can predict it. If we win our next two games (the second one should be simple ;) ) then we'd be in an excellent position. Once again I reiterate that I'm not saying we WILL finish in fourth spot but there's an outside chance we could.

Look at it this way mate, and this is without Mackem bias.

That team would not finish 4th in Spain, it would not finish 4th in Italy, and it would have a fight to finish 4th in Germany or France.

If it's close to 4th in England, and this is no offence to a very tidy team you lot have assembled, unquestionably, the league has slipped.

A competitive league is all good, but the issue here is not lack of competitiveness, it is a complete lack of teams with any real class or guile.

Even City & United are struggling, if we're honest.

I watched a game today from Ligue 1, Lille 4-5 Bordeaux, and I tell you what, these 2 teams had so much attacking class and flair, they took the piss out of anyone other than Spurs.

I think the PL is in big trouble, next 3 years, in fact, given a 50% fail rate at CL level this year, maybe it's happening right now.

You'll finish 7th, I'd put my 4 day old car on it ;)

I completely disagree <laugh> I think more than a few teams in England could finish in the top 4 in Italy or Spain and I include ourselves in it.

This could go on forever so only time will tell!

Oh and whilst I would be delighted with 7th , I feel there's a chance we can finish 5th or 6th so I hope your car's nice <whistle>

We can play whenever mate (after Top Gear), only problem being, I have **** internet speed here.

This is not an excuse, as you know, as it actually benefits me, not the person with decent internet!

It's usually at it's best after 11pm (10 to you).

I've binned COD online altogether, as on COD , it is me that suffers, but we're moving in 3 weeks, and the place we are moving to gets 8meg (miraculous for Spain..)

As a point of note, you never 'stuffed' me, you won 4-3 in extra time, then i won 3-1, giving me a sensational 6-4 aggreagate win.

    I thank you ;)

Decent post to be fair Chappaz.

Fair to say Cabaye is tailing off a wee bit, form wise, if your honest.

I happen to have some inside info on his contract, and where he may end up next season, but you wouldn't believe me if i told you , so i'm saying nowt.

It's a lovely place where I live, and footballers would love it here, in a totally unrelated post, Jeremy Toulalan, France international, and pal of Cabaye, loves it...
