I can not believe that wes hoolahan has been overlooked AGAIN for a meaningless friendly that could give him a chance to reprisent his country at the european championships this summer.

I feel sorry for him cause hes only getting older and even if the ROI qualify for the WC he will be 32 and will be suprised if hes playing as reguarly as he is now...

Also even more so anthony pilkington, a winger who has been proberbly one of the stand out irish performers in the premiership and considering trap likes to use wingers im shocked he isnt given him the chance to show what he can do.

Though at least they wont be at risk in a meaningless game compared to premiership safety <ok>

Isn't Pilkington English, he's eligible for Ireland though?

Apart from our lads, McClean wasn't picked either, which is madness.

Who'd have an Italian as manager, huh?

Unbelievable. Keith Andrews and Keith Fahey are in, but no Wes or Pilks.
    Like I said, unbelievable.

Having said that, despite my Norwich allegiance, Pilks is NOT Irish, so no way should he be in the squad.

    Hoolahoops, though, yes.

Controversial here, but I'm not really surprised by Hoolahan's omission. IMO he is capable of the odd piece of brilliance but he can go missing quite a lot in matches, is too lightweight and gives the ball away far too easily. Don't be surprised if he moves on in the summer.

I didn't say he wasn't eligible, only that he shouldn't be. It's a nonsense in my opinion that players can play for another country with only a tenuous link. I have Irish parents (and dual citizenship) but I'm certainly English.

Having said that, I'm not expecting a call from Trapattoni!

Pilks could play for Ireland, in the same way that Russ can play for Scotland

It's actuallly an interesting thought, ONLY because, (assuming we stay in PL) of the extra money that will be available to spend. It just made me think of what possibilities lay ahead

Wes won't be going anywhere, he's a massive part of the family and I really really don't see Lambert breaking up the family anytime soon <ok>

Put it this way, howson is a player who is best played in the hoolahan role. We shall see but I will be suprised if he leaves in the summer!

I look out for Ireland results because my old dear and her family are from there, even though I'm staunchly English with any sport I'll still look out for them. It absolutely amazes me how stupid their management is with players and it's been like that for years they have average championship players getting picked ahead of players who are doing very well in the Premiership.

One of the reasons why I think Wes isn't getting picked is he has upset someone in the coaching setup or a high up person is FAI, there is no reason why he shouldn't be getting picked as he has been amazing player for the past two seasons.
