Firstly, thanks for finding this Cromer, at last a well balanced article. Old fashioned centre forwards eh, love it, AND we've got at least 2 of them, long may they carry on carrying on. Holt & Morison, how lucky are we??
I find this "under the radar" thing a bit confusing.....
    a) I think we should be getting far more coverage and praise for what we're doing.
    b) People who like us to be "under the radar" then moan about not having enough coverage on MoTD.
    c) We should be shouting from the roof tops after whats happened over the last 2-1/2 years.

Fact is, people tend to admire style ahead of effectiveness - that's just the way it is. Norwich don't play particularly attractive football to my eyes but it's incredibly effective. Long, diagonal ball onto the far side of the box, up pops Morison or Holt, and Bob's you're uncle. Sound familiar? Not really my thing, but it works and it's what I'm worried about tomorrow that's for sure.

Fact is you're a darn sight better than half the clubs in the Prem, as are we. Currently the table proves it.

I am in awe of how far Norwich has come the past few seasons , quietly & without the need of fanfare . There nose to the ground , hard work isn't going un-noticed by all though .. well done . P.S. Until the game with us is over though , you suck !!

The job is still only just over half done though. They are good articles and pretty accurate and truthful. And although I am confident of our survival this season, I am waiting until the end of the season before I assess what level of celebration to enjoy.
And maybe we are ahead of our time by playing our style of football. Old fashioned it may seem but everything is cyclical. I had platform boots in the very early 70's with flared trousers. The 80's and 90's took the mickey out of them and then the noughties come along and everyones wearing them again (still are in Cornwall).
Maybe the way to beat the teams that hold onto possession like Barca and the Swans is by a more direct style. And do we play that way because the gaffer wants to play that way or because of the players he has assembled. I assume the former but am open to persuasion.

can i just ask where this assumption that norwich don't play attractive football has come from? is it purely down to the number of headers we score? i've watched city for well over twenty years, through the days under stringer and walker, yet this current team plays football as well as any of those. however, when the time is right we are capable of becoming more direct. it doesn't happen very often but its our plan b. its called being adaptable. our football on saturday in the 2nd half was as good as i've seen from any team in the premier league this season, swansea included, so why do people assume we are playing direct? i just don't get it!

I think they're two different things. It would be great to have more analysis of our matches, I can't remember the last time they fiddled around with arrows and circles in the analysis, as well as longer highlights. Compared to the media saying that ruddy, holt or Morison are brilliant, as well as Lambert.

agree wonky. lack of analysis (this isn't just norwich - it applies to many clubs who aren't deemed 'important enough') does my head in. rather than just tell us we are doing well, tell us why we are doing well... or if we score a good goal from a good move, show us the move.

"...so why do people assume we are playing direct? i just don't get it!"

    1: The games/ highlights I've watched. I haven't assumed anything.
2: The stats - more headers than anyone else in the Prem by some distance I believe.
3: Never said all your goals were like that, but they seem to be the majority.
4: Never suggested you can't play football - far from it.

A point could also be made that " The first non English " football team to enter the ranks of the Premier League might have the media leaning the stories Swansea's way . There's a 5 page feature hitting the coast of France tomorrow by a writer who spent 3 days in Swansea .

would you care to highlight which matches we've played direct football in please? just cos we score more headers don't mean we are crap to watch! we pass the ball but use the width to get balls in the box as our full backs bomb forward.

NB. ignore the recent sunderland away game - if you watched that you won't have any idea how we play... we were so poor that day!

Why are you being so sensitive? I'm entitled to my opinion even if you disagree with it. My observations of seeing you play result in that opinion. You obviously see more of your team than I do, but from what I've seen it's a much more direct style than ours. That doesn't make it better of worse - just effective.

I never said you were 'crap to watch' either. Attractiveness in all things is subjective. It's my view you're not that attractive to watch (though infinitely better than, say Stoke) and you're entitled to disagree. But disagreeing - even vociferously - won't make me change my mind. Sorry.

Let's concentrate on the positives. You are more than capable of beating us tomorrow, no doubt. The football you play is effective, and a credit to the Premiership.

Now, can we still be friends? <hug>

The games I've watched of Norwich, They pass the ball well, and have no problem in switching direct into the box, they are definitely one of the aerial attack teams in the Prem, I enjoy watching them play to be fair! certainly no Stoke..................... <cheers>

The magazine is "L'Equipe Magazine " with about 5 million readers along the coast of France Phil . Erik Bielderman spent 3 days in Swansea recently & has written a 5 page feature coming out tomorrow about Swansea & the club I assume . The invasion of France is on !!

Not being sensitive just to start off...!!

I think you make fair points from what you've probably read or seen, so I'll just correct some of the things here.

Yes, we have scored more headers than any other team (not surprising as Holt and Morison are so big) but it amounts to 13 out of 34 goals- hardly the majority... a little over a third.

We've already clarified that the highlights are pretty limited in their credit to Norwich, which is fine because they want to show the goals. Unfortunately, both our goals against, e.g. Bolton, were not particularly pretty- what they've failed to show is the build up... Yes the actual finish isn't often that great (bar the odd Pilkington goal), but our all round play I'd say is above average for the league. I think it's well recognised that Swansea play nice football, but people look at our stats and think oh, they must be a bit like Stoke". Far from it, our players play nice football (at times direct), often counter attacking (see Morison's turn and pass to Holt for our best chance v Chelsea).
