Looking back at the multiple conversations on this board regarding this nasty business of Harry Redknapp's trial, I have noticed that many of you had already made your minds up about him, and you have branded him a criminal and a cheat without the necessary evidence to come to such a conclusion. As HistoryRepeating said in his thread:

"After years of dodging questions & tax forms, Harry is about to be found guilty....well unless Ally McBeal pulls one massive rabbit out of the hat!"

Well my message to those of you who had already convicted him in your minds is that you should be ashamed. The man has been through a horrific five years of speculation about his character, and there is no doubt that his reputation has suffered greatly, due to people like you jumping to conclusions.

Furthermore, it makes me sick that, following the verdict that Redknapp is innocent, some of you are still convinced that the man is a "crook", and that he's somehow got out of it due to his stature and his celebrity status. I put it to you that you need to grow up and get over whatever personal beef it is you have with him.

Now that Harry has been cleared of all charges, and his hell is coming to an end, I feel that he is due compensation. After such a long period of dispute about his honesty and morality, I personally hope he has the grounds to sue the bollocks off of those who defamed him for damages.

Hang your heads in shame. Redknapp for England.
 
If it had been left to a judge or a panel of experts they might have been found guilty technically. However, it was trial by jury. I have little time for either defendent, but I quickly realised they would never be found guilty because the whole thing made no sense bearing in mind the small sums involved (relative to their wealth). Looked like an oversight caused by Redknapp whinging about the reduction in his cut of Crouch's transfer fee because he had moved from Director of Football to manager. Mandaric paid the difference himself as he couldn't pay via Portsmouth's books. Why the offshore account..no idea. The length of time the decision took suggests it was a split jury, probably 9:3 for conviction.
The HMRC said they don't regret the prosecution, warning people to come clean about off shore accounts rather than let them find out.
 
HMRC can and very frequently do make mistakes. Many of my clients become my clients simply because they receive a dirty great big bill three years down the line despite having provided all the correct information/calculations in the first place. It's a joke.

I confess that I had assumed a degree of guilt before the case started but when it became clear that we were only talking about a single payment and one so small (relatively speaking) it was obvious that HMRC were barking up the wrong tree. What you should be outraged about is the fact that this was a FIVE YEAR investigation. Whoever took the decision to run it for that long, take the case to court and spend millions of taxpayers money in the process should be named, shamed, dismissed and strung up by the smaller of their testes outside the same court.
 
Assuming that they have testes of course. It does after all take balls to admit you are wrong.

This cannot be the case, by finding him innocent the jury accepted that this payment was an investment, and nothing to do with the Crouch transfer.

If they thought it was the Crouch bonus, they'd have both been found guilty.
 
not guilty of tax evasion - just guilty of being a complete div. cant lock him up for that i suppose.

How much has this case cost me and you the taxpayer - thankfully not so bad for me as i have plenty of money stashed away in my offshore account called fluffybunnykins.

You're assuming everybody's logical and not swayed by feelings. That's why I said that a panel of judges might have found him guilty. There is talk that financial cases are tried by experts...not sure about that as trial by jury is the foundation of our sense of justice even if the guilty go free.
 
Just let him get on with managing the national side- if the FA make the right decision, and watch an England side play with pride and passion again....and who knows, we might even start looking like serious international competitors once again.

I think it might shine a little light on why HMRC served Pompey a winding up order rather promptly. They could have held back, but didn't. I'm going to be open minded about their action and say that it was mere coincidence.

As far as 'Arry is concerned, he's all right I suppose, as far as the barrow boy style manager goes. One thing for sure, he makes me smile, and that's no bad thing. There is one thing he definitely knows how to do well and that is how to cajole a performance out of a football team. But he's no miracle worker [is anyone..?], which I think many Saints fans hoped for way back when. It wasn't anywhere near his entire fault for Saints being relegated from the Premier League. He just got saddled with the poison chalice of the time because he was local, He'd just fallen out with his mate/chairman, and Saints were gagging for a half decent manager, and 'Arry was looking for a job. We were 21 miles closer. There's a lot to be said for less commuting time. Truth is, Rupert gambled on the cheap with Steve Wigley, and the rest is history. Bagpuss had too much to do with too little resource.

I may take the mickey when I write about Redknapp, but in all honesty, I do have a fair bit of respect for The Twitcher. Only since he's been at Tottenham has he had the chance to really mould a top quality team. And he's certainly showing what he is capable of. I think it might turn out to be a great shame, for himself and Spurs, if he leaves to manage that other poison chalice.
 
I'm glad to see at least a couple of people have seen sense, even if it seems like the majority of people are still clueless morons.

The brown envelope man got off because there was lack of PROOF that the payments were anything other than a friend paying over £100,000 to another friend in a bank account set up far away rather than his bank down the end of the road.

Of course this is a brief summing up.
In my opinion the man is a fraud and should never be England's manager, sorry if you feel I am a moron for Having a opinion.
