Putting the JT saga to one side...This seems to be a really intriguing topic IMO and a discussion I've had with many Chelsea fans down the years.
I personally never have and never will see United or Liverpool as rivals in that sense, but younger/newer Chelsea fans probably view them as our biggest. They probably have been down the recent years for trophies but not in terms of reality. Of course it's always nice to put one over the gloryhunting Liverpool and United fans en masse at school/work etc but they aren't rivals in that sense.
Most Chelsea fans wouldn't consider Fulham and QPR rivals at such despite both being more local than Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal.
Leeds in the 60s and 70s was another big rival, but they seem to have faltered somewhat, same could be said of Leicester to a lesser extent.
Who would you consider to be our main rivals and why?
