With all due respect, no offense to you or any other club in trouble as I honestly don't like to see any club in trouble and hope Kettering and Darlington pull out of trouble, but did any of Southampton's MP's raise the issue during Prime Minister's Question Time? Bare in mind, Cameron only mentioned us in response to the issue being raised by a Portsmouth MP, I doubt he would have mentioned us otherwise.

PompeyLapras..........Truth is the PM was doing no more than postulating. There is not a cat in hells chance of tax payers money in any form being used to bail Pompey out. If it were to happen there would be such a hue and cry from the general public and from the other clubs that have been in similar trouble. Also it would set a precedent (is that the word) surely and would possibly cause serious problems.

Cameron isn't suggesting that the tax payer bails Pompey out. Read it properly. He's saying there must be a better way for HMRC to get its money that is owed. Liquidating the club would get back a fraction. What Cameron is saying is HMRC and Pompey should sit down and come to an agreement where HMRC the full amount back.

Let us be honest. HMRC are not going to get another penny out of Pompey ever!

If the club gets shut down the players move on to more responsible clubs who pay their tax bill.

The best thing pompey fans can do at this time is to hire a chippy to knock up a coffin for their club then in a couple of weeks time they can give it a decent funeral.

I will be deeply sorry for all decent pompey fans including PompeyMeowth and PompeyLapras.

Good points. It is naive to ask a question like this at PMQ. What is "call me Dave" man of the people going to say. As ever, like the politician he is, he gives a non-answer. I think the differences between Pompey's current situation and ours a couple of years ago is that there may not have been such a specific question to ask. "Excuse me PM but our great club is going down the pan on account of the fact that we have some weasel in charge" isn't the same as asking a specific question about taxation, in which the government clearly has an interest. Frankly, said MP could have saved her breath, but it does show her as "caring" when she is next up for election. Personally I hate the lot of them .... Next election just remember, don't vote 'cos the government always gets in!

Actually this is a very hard time for me as I have lots of friends who are true Pompey fans and also my long time friends and I really feel for them and for them alone I want Pompey to survive.

It is all so very wrong that their club has been dragged down to this by a bunch of crooks. I am also angry that the FA/FL seem to forget that they have a responsibility here as they failed to monitor just what clowns they were approving to run a member club.

Deep in my heart I don't want to see Pompey go but boy are some of those posters on the News website absolute poison. Most of them should have been drowned at birth and I am ashamed to say we have our fair share of the same.

For me the best scenario would be administration and a deduction of 20 points with relegation followed by Chanrai and and the gun runner's boy losing every penny while a really solid and sensible buyer emerges who rebuilds Pompey as a decent club once again.

Unfortunately your best scenario won't happen. Never in a million years will Chanrai take the loss. He'll do anything including dragging the club along to get whatever he can. Ironically the best thing for the club is for it to die. We Pompey fans won't go without a fight but that is looking like the most likely scenario.

Cameron seemed to be suggesting that the fans want to buy Pompey.......could the fans raise that kind of money?
Personally I doubt it........Like Godders I too have life long Pompey supporters as close friends. I agree that the FA/FL have had a part in there downfall. To be honest I don't think the HRMC would of taken such a hard line had they not lost a bundle the last time round. I have to say they are not my favorite government department. Penny and David are right though it does effect the community and does have a wide area of concern and possible hardship in a largish area of Hampshire. For me it would be a travesty to see Pompey disappear. I find it totally incomprehensible that the Powers that be, did not see through some of the previous supposed owners.
I think the name of Portsmouth Football club will be tarnished for a very long time even if they do survive, because of their recent financial and ownership history. I also believe this is one of the reasons they are having difficulty in securing a new decent buyer.
What ever happens Pompey fans, despite our rivalry. The vast majority of Saints fans really do wish you all the luck in the world in your quest for survival. It don't matter what league you are in, it is Pompey the football club and it fans that are important!!
