Maybe he fancies a change, King? Hasn't been the luckiest of numbers for him at Spurs, after all. Doubt he'll get to use 38, to be honest. He'll either be loaned out again, once he's fit or he'll rot in the reserves.
Any reason why this can't be merged with the thread where this was first posted on? http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/121313-Transfer-window-summary?p=2221043&viewfull=1#post2221043
I didn't think he had to take a number straight away and given that he potentially could be here next season, I'm going to stick with my optimism, killjoy
Odd, considering Dawkins has never made the bench for us, yet Lancaster got some game time on Tuesday. There's also the minor issue that we released him due to persistent injuries - and people complain about Saha... Let's be honest, the squad numbers will be rearranged in the summer anyway - so it might be 9 for Remy, 10 for Leandro, with Defoe keeping 18.
Who is Dawkins out of interest? I don't think I've ever seen him play (or heard of him for that matter)
Dawkins is a 24 year old striker who recently went out on loan to the MLS with the San Jose Earthquakes. He's had lots of injuries and never really done anything at any of the clubs that we've loaned him to, so I'm not sure why he's still on the books, in all honesty.
Ah ok, I thought I'd never heard of him and thats probably why. Looks like more deadwood to get rid of then, anyone know his contract details? Also why did we even sign Bongani Khumalo? What has he ever done? He's not even that much of a prospect IMO.
Dawkins has another 18 months left on his contract, for some reason. Odd. Khumalo's a fairly low risk player. If it'd worked out, then great. If it doesn't, which appears to be the case, then we haven't lost that much.
Two reasons to worry for his future with the club: 1.) Alnwick was our25th player in September, and he's not even in the squad 2.) This is his squad photo... please log in to view this image If there's any deadwood in our reserves/academy that are certain to be shipped out in the summer, Obika and Alnwick top the list.
Yeah I suppose so. I remember when we played Burnley in the last game of the season when we qualified for the CL and Alnwick was bad for us that day. Has he improved at all do we know, or is he still mediocre? The keeper situation really needs to be sorted out over the summer in my opinion, as Friedel and Cudicini can't go on forever and Gomes seems to have been alienated a bit and will probably get sold. Good keepers are hard to come by though, just ask United! Could be a problem for us in a couple of seasons time if we don't start looking at replacements.
Looking at our academy keepers, Alnwick isn't Premier League standard (he's hardly doing a good job at Orient either), whilst Button isn't as bad but still isn't good enough (Doncaster fans can give a better impression) Of the rest, Archer is at Bishop's Stortford so I have no idea how he's doing, Jansson seems promising judging by his loan stints and performances for the Sweden U19s, whilst Ranieri also seems promising (but is on loan to some makeweights in the Italian third tier, so no-one but his teammates and the few dozen people who turn up to watch Esperia can comment)
We could probably do with replacing Cudicini with a keeper in his mid-to-late twenties that can challenge Friedel for his place and act as back-up in the meantime. An English keeper who's young enough not to count against the squad limit would be good, too. Move Gomes on and maybe get Cudicini into the coaching set-up, where he could also act as an emergency keeper in the unlikely event that we were to lose the other 3 to injury.
