That's a strange logic, I bet Barnett feels replaced, he's in the squad, how many times will he be used come March as with Howson, who drops out. This is not rocket science
thats the thing though isn't it. these players are being introduced 'to give the lads a hand'. thats where you are missing the point longsight. even if these players do eventually end up replacing current mainstays, they are not being labelled as that at this moment in time. they are here to join the group, not replace, and that is one of the most brilliant things about our manager - man-management. these players improve our squad and improve our team without disengaging the current crop of players. i guarantee, if barnett is a bit intimidated by the signing of the new boy, lambert will put an arm round his shoulder and tell him he's great. dammit, he'll probably pick him tonight!
It feels like a solipsist would feel I ll leave it alone cos Im Pushing against a non existent open door
Excellent post by the OP and also by 'GP's Boots' As I see it, Howson and Bennett have been brought into the squad with the future in mind and we won't see either available for selection until the Stoke game at the earliest, so for now, PL is going to get the best out of the players he's got. He has always said that he wants 'competition for places' and that's exactly what our 2 new players will do and what is needed. As has been said, Ayala is only a couple of bookings from a minimum of a 1 match ban, so cover is needed for him, though I dare say that either RM, EW or LB coould slot in if necessary!! Carrow Road is a great place to go these days and to think that I wanted us to stay in the Championship, as we were winning more games than we were losing!!!! Never in my wildest dreams did I think we may have 29 points by this time in the season. PS - William Hill refused my bet that NCFC would end the season on 50 points or more!!!
Longsight, I think everyone on this forum is actually pulling in the same direction. We all clearly want the club to thrive - especially after what we were confronted with after Grant/Roeder/Gunn, and under McNally and Lambert it has I bet there is not a club on the planet who would not love to have a double act like those two at the helm, improving year on year league position, reducing horrendous club debts (thanks a billion, Delia and Michael for sticking with us and not selling to the first "benefactor" who appears to be wanting to do you and us a favour) and more importantly bringing stability to the playing staff on the club's books. Even when (if) PL and DM leave for bigger and better things, their legacy will continue to live on, as did Martinez's at Swansea. Best two years of my life as a City fan, my old season ticket encompassed Walker - but also Deehan, Megson, Rioch and Hamilton, etc Surely we are already the complete antithesis of QPR - and all the better and stronger for it
Yeah, exactly right. If he really needed them then he wouldn't have gone for an injured Howson or let Bennett back on loan at Peterborough.
Pull the other one longsight, you obviously enjoy an (imaginary) argument; otherwise you wouldn't have dreamed up this forum and populated it with posters who disagree with you! And to top it all you thought up canary-dave as moderator! What a creation!
Very funny, fortunately superman has convinced me I'm not the only one in the universe, I'd agree with myself more.
