Where does he go from here? His desired move back to La Liga hasn't materialised and Sevilla appear to have washed their hands of him, so what now?
Does he get his head down at WHL and prove his worth to the team or mope until the summer, hoping that we'll ship him off for a small fee?

With Pienaar returning to Everton on loan, I'd say that there's an opportunity for him to push for a place on the bench at least.
We've got no obvious cover for Lennon or Bale, plus he could deputise for van der Vaart in a pinch, but I don't think he's got the backbone to do it.

Can lower league clubs still bring in loan players?
If so, then it wouldn't surprise me to see him recreating his heroics at Ipswich, even though that'd leave us very short in numbers.
 
Maybe it is all because Levy wants his money back on the fella...but we might have to sell him very cheap....i wouldnt pay more than 1.5 mill for him..potential or not.

and i dont see him playing for us this season at all unless there ends up being a jam of fixtures near the end of the season....but then again HR does not tinker well on the best of days.

Loan move is the best option but would you take him PNP if you came to Spurs looking for a loan when there was the likes of Falcao,Townsend,Carroll and even Lankaster who i thought had a bright game for us against Wigan, available at the begining of the window?

not that they are better..but definatly more hungrier in order to impress....Gio seems content with the fact that he gets his recognition from the Mexican national team..regardless of wether he plays for Spurs or not...so basicaly a lazy south American,who reminds me of Tevez in behaviour but not as nutty, who doesnt need to try...he might have pulled his socks up if he got dropped from the national team.

Dos Santos is a proven international though, Dona.
He has talent, but he has shades of Taarabt about him, for me.
 
In England....hunger can replace talent...and rightly so...we like our players to graft...the best can do both...ala Bale.
 
The sooner he pisses off the better. Give him a run out against Stevenage and sell him at the first offer we get in the summer.
 
however i dont mind the lad..but i really do loathe individuals who have been handed the chance to live the dream yet dont try..whilst the rest of us would run our hearts out for half the wage.
 
I still feel he is a good player and we need to find some way of getting the best out of him.

As I've said before, it seems to be a weakness of all football managers (so called) that they give up too easily with difficult cases. I can think of no other profession where you would be allowed to get away with having £££s of assets sitting round doing nothing
 
He has one course of action open to him. Get his finger out and force his way into the team. His displays for Mexico have been breathtaking on occassion and he has more than enoughability to make the bench at least. If he just applied himself for half a season he would get his move. The ball is in his court.
 
Think we're just going to have to take a loss and sell him to one of the Spanish clubs in the summer.Can't see him pulling his finger out for us so no option.

In all seriousness, I just can't see him getting into our first team even if he did put the hours in on the training ground.

Out of our 'deadweight' though - he's not as bad as Bentley etc.
 
If we got £5m for Hutton after a run of games last season (albeit losing 50% of what we paid for him in the first place), if he got a few games covering on the right we could recoup the £4.5m we pad for him if he puts in the effort.
 
It's a shame that he hasn't lived up to the early hype of the "new Ronaldinho" (not that anyone will). Still a decent player and I'm surprised he doesn't make our bench more often. Offers pace and trickery which could be useful when we're withough Lennon/ Bale.
 
His value isnt going to increase unless he is given a chance, and Harry doesnt seem to rate him at all. I am disappointed we havent seen more of him, he is outstanding for Mexico. Cant blame Levy for holding out for a decent price, when Udinese offered around £10m but he wouldnt go. He is 22 years old with bags of potential, not 32 and past his best, it would be crazy to sell him for a knock down price.

What is the going rate for a 22 year old attacking international footballer?
 
Obviously, none of us really knows the real root of the problem. Maybe it is his attitude, maybe he just can't settle in the UK - a non-Spanish speaking country. If a player is unhappy with his life off the field, that will translate through to his attitude on the field. He seems intent on only going to Spain, so maybe that's the problem. What ever it is, it seems clear he's not going to settle here, with Spurs.
 
To be fair, I couldn't stand Pav because I thought he just wasn't trying. Gio's level of effort I think has been something other than disgraceful. I think he hasn't gotten in the team because 'Arry thinks his style doesn't really fit in, and I see his point. He likes to dribble around, looking for a chance to put in a long range shot or pass, though he'll also run on the break. But it's not really the kind of one touch football that Spurs play.

I also think that like many players, he needs to play every game. Probably he'll be sold at a loss. But if Spurs get injury problems in midfield, he might just turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

Must have one left at the end of this season, which will also reduce his value.
