'All angles covered' highlights on Saints player now, having just watched I think:

Davis wasn't fouled for Cardiff's goal. Cardiff player stood in front of him but didn't move. Perfectly entitled to do that.
Lambert penalty appeal was correctly turned down. Minimal contact, Rickie lost control of the ball and went down easily.
Lallana first appeal was a stonewall pen and should have been given.
Penalty that was given was probably correct, the ball hit McNaughton rather than him attempting to handle it, but he had his arms stretched out for some reason.

So, all in all, the ref was not as bad as has been suggested, although we should have had another penalty.
 
I've watched the highlights and disagree with you on the Davis foul and the first 2 pen appeals. The first pen appeal was more of a pen than the second. Why? Because of where the ball was going. They were both spot kicks but I can see why the ref didnt give the one where Lallana was "fouled". The ball was going out - that must have been why he didnt give a pen. Davis was definitely fouled - the Cardiff player blocked him off deliberately. It was a definite handball for the pen that was given.
 
Doesn't matter where the ball is going, a foul is a foul. Lallana was cleanly sliced down by the defender, no touch on the ball, it's the clearest foul you'll ever see. Ball was still in play when it happened so it should be a penalty, I can only assume the ref thought it had already gone out.

And yes, Davis was deliberately blocked in the sense that the player stood there knowing he'd be in the way, but that's commonplace these days and every team does it. Keepers have to be aware of it. He didn't make any movement towards Davis, he just stood still. If anything he's trying to get out the way and Fox is pushing him into Davis. No foul for me.

The Lambert one is pretty 50/50, you're entitled to disagree with me on that but my interpretation was the referee was entitled not to give it.
 
The goal, was a foul, he moved with davis, blocking his path.
The Lambert one also could have been given, he turned the defender who put his arms across him and stuck his leg out.

the one given also a penalty, he was too far away to call it ball to hand.
 
I think that Davis was fouled. Nowadays you are not even allowed to touch a goalkeeper in their 6 yard box. Many a time we have seen that players stand in front of the goalkeeper and are penalised for it.

The RL penalty. The player had his arms all over lambert, as forced him to the ground. Yes he may have gone down slightly easily but they are still penalties.

The Lallana penalty. This was the most obvious penalty in the whole world. If it wasn't a penalty then obviously it would have been a corner as the player would have won the ball. Another option would have been that Lallana would have been booked for diving.

Overall the ref had a ****e game. He was not fit as he just walked around the centre circle and so could not see the penalties.

However i would have taken a draw before the game but we do always seem to get **** refs.

I only got one look at the highlights but I agree with that. Lambert no, Lallana yes, handball could have gone either way, not a foul on Kelvin.
 
Someone agrees with me! Only took 7 people <laugh>

Think this highlights difficulty referees have, we've all studied the highlights and there's no consensus on any one of those decisions.

You got it. The "bring in technology brigade" are given something to think about. And remember this is us watching it over again on film. The ref clearly saw all 3, and gave what he thought was right. End of. Blue line and off to Brum.
 
I was livid with the refs performance, if he thought Lambert and Lallana had dived then both should have been booked. I also got annoyed with the way he didn't book Miller for dissent/time wasting early on in the game, firstly he kicked the ball away, second foul he stood in front of the ball so we couldn't play the ball quickly. I have no complaints with Schneiderlins booking but what about the tackle on Lee, yes it was a strong hard tackle but if he didn't win the ball (which he didn't then its a booking). All I ask for is consistency, the fact he got 1/3 penalties right is very worrying especially when they were so bloody obvious. There goal is a weird one, but Davis was impeded. As Fonte said, 1 or 2 mistakes is ok but 3 is not good. I am sure the referees assessor will give him a strong warning.
 
The lunge that took Lallana down was a penalty, as was the handball. Wasnt even a case of the ball hitting his arm, he clearly moved his arm into the ball. From some angles the Lambert one could have been, but have to say that it prob wasnt. Dont think Davis was fouled at all, he should try blatantly pushing players and fall over like other keepers to get the decision.

So for my money the ref only got 1 of the 4 decisions wrong. It was the clearest one, but still, not bad :-)

I very much doubt it. Look at the highlights through the eyes of a Cardiff fan and see if you come to the same conclusion.

He got one decision dead-wrong, and it arguably cost us 2 points, but the others are judgement calls and an impartial observer would see that.
 
I thought we played so well yesterday that i didn't - and still don't - give a monkey's about the ref's performance (nor indeed the fact that we only drew). That's the best i've seen us play in a long time, and the second half is up there as one of our best 45 mins of the season. So that's all I cared about, not the ref's dodgy decisions.

Agree, reminds me of the second half against Cardiff away! Totally dominant again and unlucky not to get more from the game.
