In all seriousness do people think action will be taken? He's b*tching about it and Van Persie does catch Cuellar albeit not badly imo. I've certainly seen people getting into trouble before for it. I think it'd set a dangerous precident if Van Persie were to be booked after Lescott gets away scot free. Thoughts?
 
Well it was a little naughty of RVP but not life threatening. Lescott's was much worse and blatant and he got away with it during the game and afterwards too. If RVP gets a ban then i expect the same for Lescott.

Just keep it consistent please.
 
Hope nothing happens as I doubt if RVP would resort to these tactics despite what McLeish & Warnock may claim. They managed the losing sides so one wonders if other considerations are at play.

McLeish is a meathead anyway. Can't abide by the man.
 
The BBC report was properly trying to stick the knife in. They even dredged up quotes from Neil Warnock to back themselves up. Like anyone takes that 'tard seriously.
 
I reckon there are 20+ instances in every game where the player jumps with his elbows out, very rarely is there any malice in it and it's usually the cheats of La Liga that make it look far worse than it ever really is.
I quite like Spanish football but some of their antics are laughable.....

your bitching id say by blatently pretending nothing was wrong...hypocrites...like you wouldnt complain...had he broken his jaw..would that have made you say that it was wrong? you still abuse Shawcross a few seasons on <doh>

Yes, those two incidents are exactly the same. Fine comparison. *cough* Troll *cough*.

You'll also note that nobody has said he didn't do it, just wondering if anything would come of it.

A deliberate elbow involves the arm being flung back in to a players face. Their was no movement of the arm, every player jumps with the elbows in that position, it just caught him, but did no damage because he didnt throw his arm. The ref saw it and ruled it accidental, it will therefore be in his report and so I doubt there will be any further action from the FA.

By the way why do you spend so much time on our board?
 
Comparing the Shawcross leg breaking tackle with RVPs accidental elbow is simply wumming at it's worst <doh>
 
Aint seen it and aint wumming but if rvp had been caught would you think it should be left?

There is a big difference between accidental and deliberate, its only a red card if it is deliberate. Plenty of our players including RVP have been caught in the face in the same way. This is just sour grapes by Mcleish.
 
Accidental? I'm not a fan or Arsenal, however I do like RVP. He clocks the guy over his shoulder then sticks his elbow out straight into the chops. I do agree however that it would be hypocritical for retrospective action to be taken, where it wasn't against Rooney or Lescott. Hmm I've just used my quota of long words in one sentence.

EDIT:

I should also point out that by "I'm not a fan of Arsenal" doesn't mean that I dislike them, actually I very much enjoy watching them play. As a neutral, that is.

Yes but Shawcross shows consistently that his sense of sportsmanship is very much borderline.

It all comes down to the ref. He has to include it in his report and say that he didn't see it but if he did he'd have red carded him. Wigan got a freekick for Rooney's elbow so it relied on Clattenberg(?) admitting he got it wrong, which of course he didn't. Webb didn't see the Lescott incident at the time and somehow deduced from the replays that it was not worthy of a red card for violent conduct. After the referee releases his report, the FA's hands are tied by their own silly rules.

I don't think RVP will get any punishment, it looked like the ref saw it.
