How peoples views change within 6 weeks!

Go back before i believe the fulham game... we had just lost to spurs and then fans were questioning the addition of dani ayala in the starting line up for the visit of the cottagers. 95mins later and the fans were full of praise for a young CB who had played only once in 4 months of joining the club. go forward an unbeaten 5 weeks coming to the end of the transfer window and all of a sudden people asking for a new CB just seemed to have dissapeared and seem now happy with the fact that we have such a good partnership in dani ayala and zak whitbread now coming to flurrish for our team.

After the burnley game, the cry of we need another keeper was heard from most of norfolk as declan rudd was to be ruled out for 2 months after injuring his ankle. After consulting with ian culverhouse and the GK coach they believed there was no need and they would stick to there guns with our very young talented jed steer. Before yesterdays game i was sitting in a pub in west brom and i found out the team news and told fans around me about lambert including steer in the starting XI and they couldnt believe it, and started to question lamberts view on the cup and said just cause he was included he wasnt going for it today <doh> I never got to meet those fans after the game but i hope they had a 2nd think about what they said. All of a sudden though people are not asking for another keeper after seeing that our club is very lucky to have 3 talented keepers (all english may i add, not many clubs who can say that <ok>) who if needed can step up to any challenge when called upon.

I wish people would stop questioning lamberts descions on everything cause everytime (well almost) he seems to them spot on and why people still go on about how he isnt doing this or he aint doing that is beyond me, even ken bates is doing it <doh>

anyway good evening to you all and lets see if anything happens in the next 2 days to see if we get any other future stars or mistakes which ever way you look at it.

I still believe he wasn't go all out to win, Lappin and Wilbs as subs kind of proves the point,

I questioned Steer's inclusion, and yes he played very well and it was great to see. more than happy to eat my words. I loved the 60 yard pass Ayala hit and the back two are forming a great partnership.

He easily could have started with them 2 if he wanted. I didnt blame him taken holt, hoolahan and pilkington off as we have a long trip north wednesday and wasnt suprised atall to see them go off. As i said before the game, if he was fit rudd would have played but as he isnt and steer is our back up at the moment is was important in my eyes he was to get game time.

With the state of some of our roads in the UK, it may well take longer to get to Sunderland than Rosenberg <laugh>

I would agree with you Longsight. In Lamberts prematch press conference he was absolutely adamant that he did not want a replay - Luckily West Brom handed the tie to us on a plate! However at the time listening to it on the radio when Laps and Wilbs came on was, for me, just another way of Lambert saying to West Brom - "Here... try and beat us now if you can... please," as those pre-match conference words echoed in my head.

I guess Lambert hadn't figured that Steer would play an absolute blinder in his first game for us and that West Brom fancied the replay even less than us so decided to give us a bye through to the next round! Very kind of them because it now means no blank weekend during the fifth round weekend for the first time in a long time!

Before I am getting slated by anybody on this I am NOT saying that Lambert did not want to win this game, I am just pointing out that he didn't try very hard to but because he is the Son of God and his dad was playing up front they conjured up yet another mindboggling miracle before our very eyes!

Actually I regularly go to Trondheim, home of Rosenberg and it probably does take longer to get to the North East. Damn

.........unavoidable? a canary fan not knowing when their next match is? i'd like to see your version of an avoidable error.

I don't understand why people were worried about Steer playing. Yes it was his debut, but from what I'be heard he's actually the more talented of him and Rudd

For me, it's not about a lack of confidence in his ability, it was more about not picking your first choice keeper, who has developed a good understanding with his defenders, which can make a huge difference; a moments hesitation and you're out of the cup. That was my concern, but as it turned out, it ws unfounded.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and the great thing about it is that all of us have it! As for foresight, only Paul Lambert has it! <laugh>
