It's perfectly plausible that RVP didn't hear the ref's whistle. It's also ridiculous to say that he should have noticed the defenders around him slowing up. If you're an attacker who's through on goal, your main priority is to get your shot off and worry whether it's offside later. While no one wants to see blatant time wasting, there's nothing to stop the ref adding a few seconds if he feels that that's what the player was trying to do. How would people feel if a player from their own team wrongly gave up on a goal-scoring opportunity simply because they saw some defenders slowing down in their peripheral vision?

Watch it back again - it's quite obvious he heard the whistle by his body language and the way he kicked the ball away.

It was a joke the way alves went down. 1 time nasri I think kicked the bottom of alves' foot and he went down holding his shin <doh> if anyone was going to get hurt out of that it would be nasri. alves is a disgrace to football. over rated aswell.

This ^^^<ok>

How much time did RVP waste? (if that was his intention, which it wasn't imo) 2 seconds? 3 maybe. Red card was a ****ing travesty and any **** who thinks the ref got it right is a **** <ok>

Something similar happened to me a few years back when I played professional football. I received a second yellow card for kicking the ball to the sidelines (even though it's dubious as to whether the ball was still in play or not). Ruled me out of the FA cup final that year but my team-mates soldiered on and won a magnificent treble that year <ok>

Still ****in ragin over that **** though.

Listen ****, for the last ****ing time IT WAS NOT A RED CARD, IT WAS A YELLOW CARD. The card was shown for kicking the ball away (a respect thing) not time wasting. Jeez learn the ****ing rules will you <ok>

Who said it was a ''rule'? You're just clutching at straws fella <laugh>

But according to Trev it's perfectly OK to kick a ball away after the whistle. Whodathunkit?
