I knew he'd directed before (he did the video to Modest Mouse's King Rat) but i didn't know he did those!
Leo is a very underrated actor. Me and my mates had a talk about this and we think he and Christian Bale are the best actors of our 'generation'.
I know they are not of 'my generation' per say as they are in their 30's and im only in my early 20's, but we discounted classic actors like Tom Hanks, de Niro, Pacino etc.. because they are alot older. But anyways Leo is definately in some brilliant films (The Departed, Shutter Island, Inception, Blood Diamond)
Liam Neeson is awesome aswell- "I will find you, and I will kill you"

Benicio Del Toro was not in No Country for Old Men, that was Javier Bardem, another good actor. Benicio Del Toro has been in; Che, 21 Grams, Fear and Loathing, Traffic, etc.
Yes Daniel Day-Lewis was in There will be Blood, he was also was the only good thing in Gangs of New York, and in My Left Foot, etc. He is the most method actor ever, for The Last of the Mohicans he made himself a canoe out of a tree or something and lived in the wild. He is also coming up in the Steven Spielberg film Lincoln as Abraham Lincoln next year. And to tie everything together he is doing a Martin Scorsese film which also has Benicio Del Toro in.

Yeah, There Will Be Blood I remember that now, I'd like to watch more of his films!
I can't think of anybody better. Has he ever put in a bad performance ... or even just an average one for that matter?
Really don't think so. In everything he has done, he has put in a staggeringly good performance. As Mifune said, he absolutely owned Gangs of New York and pretty much single handedly saved what would have ended up as a poor-average Scorsese film into a great watch. I don't even know where to start describing how good he was in There Will Be Blood either, one of the most powerful and convincing acting performances I've ever seen in film.
Yer I was kinda arguing for Di Caprio, but a few of them are massive fans of Christian Bale and they were adamant he was. To be fair I respect the fact he's a method actor and puts alot of time and effort into his roles. But my opinion of him did go down alot when I heard his rant on set to one of the staff.

Sssh! To be fair that was after he did Che so I think he just wanted something light to do.
I can't stand Bale (no offence to people who like him), I find him a boring actor and seems a huge prick.
I also like Vincent Cassel, he was very good in Mesrine and La Haine. He is coming up in a film with two other good actor I like Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender called A Dangerous Method which is about Freud and Carl Jung, sadly it has also got ****ing Keira Knightley who could ruin it.
Just had a look at his filmography on IMDB and although I haven't seen them all I can't think of one where he was anything less than excellent. Not exactly prolific though, surprised at how few films he's been in.
I've got a soft spot for Cassel as well. Brotherhood of the Wolf is one of my guilty pleasures! If you haven't watched Satan though don't bother
Mortensen and Fassbender are two good actors as well. As for Keira Knightley absolute tosh. Couldn't out act the scenery if her life depended on it. How the hell does she get so many roles?
Gary Oldman. Leon and True Romance are a couple of brilliant examples of why he is great. In Leon he is absolutely terrifying, unpredictable, powerful and hilarious all at the same time while in True Romance (average-good film overall) he puts in the most out-there performance you could possibly imagine from him, proving why he is such a great actor at basically any role handed to him. People rave about Johnny Depp in the Pirates film, but he basically took Oldman's True Romance and made it less evil and more homosexual.
