Or alternatively he could hit it out of the ground from 20 yards out like he did against Leyton Orient a couple of years ago
Wonder if Nigel influenced Cortese's decision and acted as an intermediary or whether Nicola saw the sense in this himself.
One of Jasons tweets accused NC of not being man enough to explain things to his face. Sometimes it takes a big fight and harsh words to bring parties together who were both just being quiet and stubborn before
Strikes me more the Don backing down. De Ridder isn't going to make the grade and until we get 2 strikers up and running Guly can't go back to the wing so Puncheon is needed!! Plus the Don wants money for him. Only way to sell him for Cortese's valuation is by it appearing he is wanted here, and of course others seeing him play. I think it is a good decision. If it comes off we have filled a large chasm in our game. If not then nothing is lost. Either way he will be sold in the summer I think
Your last point is the one probably made to Puncheon. Knuckle down, help get us promoted, and wait for the summer. Adkins has told Nicola that we could do with a player like Punch at the moment. Puncheon's agent has slapped him round the head about his twitter comments. And Nicola has shown himself to be more pragmatic than we thought. Could work out all round and is certainly better than the unpleasantness before.
We can discuss and speculate all we like, the conspiracy theorists will have a field day, one thing for sure, it will be a long time before we hear the true facts as everything is sensibly kept within house.
Have to say that the Cortese/Puncheon love-in is the most unexpected thing to happen to Saints since Souness signed.
Who cares what JPs motives are?.....I don't. If he has apologised because he thinks we are his best shot at PL football then so be it! It's better for us. Get off his back if you want him to do well FOR US. If you boo him, we may as well have 10 players on the pitch.......personally, I will cheer him when he comes on to give him that bit of confidence he needs. I hope others do the same.....
Says on Echo site that West Ham were after him..definitly wouldn't want him to play for a rival. Also said a PFA representative was at the meeting. I said before that if things had gone on as before, I could see a tribunal looming, so best it's sorted now.
Indeed, if you offer an employee no chance of doing their job then the contract becomes null and void. Therefore you have to let player play. One of the failings of the Bosman ruling where if a player decides he wants to leave you can no longer leave him in the reserves. If they decide they will not play then it is different. Works both ways though as in our case. Its normally the player refusing to play and se out his contract, weherby the club then release player without paying up the contract. In our case we don't want to release him on a free.
I can see him doing the business for us and leaving in the summer if we fail to make the jump up a league.
He seems to have a habit of going places and starting like a house on fire (he did for us). Hopefully he will again that will see us through to the PL and then both parties win! Think we'll be more dangerous and have better shape with Punch and Lallana on either flank.
Yep. This worked really well albeit in league one. If he cones back strong, chappers will be back to being an effective sub again.
