According to the Daily Mirror, Maynard has snubbed Wigan and told City he is staying unless a higher league club comes in or his contract runs out,he does not want to join a basement outfit...... That is a big let down..... http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...-Maynard-snubs-Wigan-offer-article857141.html
looks like no money then for city. with his attitude which reminds me of basso, i cant see many clubs wanting to pay out for him after snubbing wigan wanting a bigger club!
The guy is just out for himself,he ain't interested in city's situation. Just good old NM looking out for himself. I do not want to see him in a city shirt again. He certainly ain't doing himself any favours 6.5 million to lesta 2.2 million to wigan Get out of our club.
Surprise surprise wize! I don't think anyone will come in for him that meets his grossly over-egoed self worth. So the sage continues and he isn't exactly making new friends by his comments is he? I really think he is going to stick with us until his contract expires to add more salt to the wound. Does he really believe that a top club is coming for him and if he is not careful he could end up as another Basso The plot thickens and I think the sub-plot is becoming very evident to us all.
Higher placed team Honesty none of them even want him, it's all the lower half/ relegation threatened teams interested
Wow indeed. I had not read the other responses on this thread when I posted and the venom is glaringly obvious. He is quickly losing any credibility that was left and probably has put himself further away from the contract he clearly thinks he is owed. I' with you all with your comments, particularly redrobin when he says the player in question must never wear our shirt again. SPOT ON!
What the hell is wrong with you lot? Put yourself in Nicky's position, why would he want to join a club that is set for relegation? He has openly said he wants to better himself and by joining a club set for CC football next season is not bettering himself. As for the Leicester situation, look at their position in the league, there are obvious massive issues at that club and its clear Nicky does not want to be a part of a **** club like them. Good for him i say, but on the other hand, what i would have done if i was CS or DM, is try to force him out by saying that you will not be played until you sign an extention with a get out clause. Its only since DM put him on the bench has any progress actually happened. Im pretty sure he will be gone before the end of the transfer window or hes just gonna rot away on the bench.
Finally, a sensible comment from Mr Bristol. Red Robin, to you and me, its a passion, to the players, its job - what the **** do you expect, with a pretty strong chance of comig straight back down, would you seriously expect NM to go to Wigan....??? Its like leaving Carpet Right to go to Peacocks and you really need to get a grip on reality... Tell you what, you have 6 maybe 7 GOOD years left in your working lifetime - I know you are good at your job so I'll offer you 5 times your current weekly salary and a big fat bonus to sign on for me FOR A 3 YEAR, FIXED PERIOD CONTRACT, just like probably many people on this site are on. What are you going to do, tell me you'd turn it down because you are fiercely loyal to your current employer and you don't want financial security for your wife and kids and I'll call you the BIGGEST LIAR on this planet and, what are you going to do when that contract is up... That's right, LOOK FOR MORE WORK..... So, its good enough for you but OUR players must not display this behaviour because they then become the scum of the earth to be spat on in the streets. DON'T BE SUCH A HYPOCRITE....! There is probably no problem with Nicky in the dressing room but the nastiness of some supporters probably meant that DM knew playing him would reflect on him... As it happens, I think that there will be plenty of interest in the next week and that Nicky will go somewhere, if nothing else, to get away from the rabid so called "supporters" like Red Robin who are out for blood cos NM didn't sign and sacrifice his first born to the club as well.
Looks like we are going to get sod all for him how about a straight swop for Dobie with Swansea! that would satisfy me. A spell in the reserves would also help to bring him down to earth. I agree with the comment about it not being surprising that he snubbed Wigan I would in his golden shoes and his agent must be a right tosser as a contract extension with a get out clause would have guaranteed him a good salary when his present contract runs out. Now there is a chance that we all lose out.
Spot on Mr Bristol & Prem..... Don't understand some people....why on earth should he be forced to go to a club that he has no interest in.........He is whats known as forfilling his contract...Good on him in my book. Will you all be changing your tune if he decides to stay and sign a new contract???? Some fans are bang out of order in my book.........At the end of the day......his goals are one of the reasons why we are not at the foot of the table.
The problem most of us have is that he could have made it clear he was not going to sign a new contract a year ago, enabling us to at least make some money back on him. Instead he let us believe he couldn't decide until it was too late. Thank goodness Derek pushed him into making a decision, so at least we had a chance of making some money in the window. But with his latest comments, what manager of a team in the lower reaches of the Prem would even make the effort to try sign him, only to be the laughing stock of the following days papers. Right now, he is no better than Tevez as he is effectively saying he wont leave and yet he won't try to make the team anymore. Only in football, it seems, is this acceptable behaviour. Maybe Wize you could start a thread, like you do for the upcoming matches, Maynard - what team will he end up at, for what price, and in what month will he move. I will go first - READING £1.1 million January 2012 (deadline day)
still think and said it before that he will do a beckford and move to everton for free in the summer as they want him but wont pay any money now so will wait to the summer, with an agreement with the player, and get him fod for free. beckford did the same by turning other prem clubs down before moving to everton and in fairness he would get games at everton and they are a mid table prem club just with no money
Where he would stay for a couple of seasons then hold out on the contract until he gets a call from Man U or Chelsea. I'm with Redexile on this. In the reserves for the rest of the season, or hopefully a straight swop for Cox or Dobbie. Only trouble is, Maynard has us over a barrel, because nobody is going to give us a promising player in exchange for someone they can get for nothing. Nicky, you gave me one of the best moments in a City scarf with that goal at QPR, but your attitude towards your bosses has turned the wine to vinegar
As I've stated before I have no axe to grind with NM. He is only doing what all of us would probably do in the same situation, and that's look after number 1, cuz no other bastard will do it for him, not even his agent. I do however blame the club for taking no action and burying their heads in the sand, and for not making his name available for transfer immediately, the first time he ever said 'I'm not sure if I'll sign the contract extension' that's what sticks in my throat.
Nicky Nicky Nicky, What have you done, You've gone from being just wanted out of our club, To being hated for still being in it. Just go
The Daily Star (ha ha ha!!) are still saying the deal is on and Martinez will get his man according to News Now at 01.29 this morning.
I would not even let him play in the reserves or even train with youths, Why should Bristol city help Maynard I would have him cleaning the other players boots
Someone ring our old pal David Moyes and ask him to do us a favour! He is used to signing over rated lower league strikers...
As expected a lot of throat grabbing on this topic but let's put in perspective the comments about him not wanting to go to a club that he's not interested in joining. If he has the right to turn down a club that he doesn't want to join then why should he be welcome at a club where he has clearly stated he wants to leave but ONLY ON HIS TERMS. Go away please.
