We can be proud after that performance. Football can be cruel like that sometimes. There is a long way to go though. We are still in a fantastic position in the league.
I'm gutted but not as much as other defeats, as in years gone by we would have lost by 3 or 4.
I'm hoping for a bad tempered draw in the Arsenal Man U match with a few red cards!
On a side note it's annoying how Arsenal have made me hate a classic Elvis song with a passion.

    Absolutely - we played well.

We need to take that one on the chin and push on now - I had thought we'd get hammered by City but we certainly didn't.

football can be cruel, but at least when it's fair it's not so bad.

when we played city and lost 5-1, we were ripped apart. when we played united and lost 3-0, we played well and then caved in at about 60 mins or so. - we were beaten fairly.

today, there were so many things that just make my blood boil.

I get really ****ed off with ref (and their assistant's) who can't get the basics right. Both sides were due corners that they didn't receive. There were challenges that players should have been booked for that weren't, and as for balotelli. - just disgraceful.

to then get beaten by a penalty from him... well, it was just about the only thing worse today than seeing Nasri score against us.

the ridiculous thing is that we didnt really look like we ever got out of 3rd gear today, which was highly frustrating! and the players looked a little lost in the final 3rd with out adebayor - this again just shows how much we need the "marquee striker". we played well, but we just didn't look dangerous enough.

Just shows how far we have come this season, the boys can all hold their heads up, in contrast to others I want the gooners to turn over the Mancs or at least draw with them, would love to finish above Man U

Be honest spurs fans all of us would have taken being 10 points clear of the 5th placed team after 22 games!

Extra bonus is that team is Arsenal.

We were second best in the first half but the better team for the last 30mins. Defoe offered very little till the goal. His touch and link up
play was of no value to the rest of the team. Assou Ekkotto final ball was hopeless, offering no threat when in such good positions.
I feel his standards have droped recently compared to his early form.
We deserved something out of this game but it just felt like a kick in the face.
I agree a top striker is needed , but with our low wage structure and not paying top dollar for players we have little chance of
    any marquee players coming.
Chin up we should still make 3rd or 4th at worst, we would have all settled for this before the season started.

Assou-Ekotto looks a bit knackered, in all honesty.
    He needs a rest.

Defoe's not really suited to our system, but he's still a very useful player for us.
We need to replace Pavlyuchenko with a player that can play the lone role and preferably link up well with Defoe or Adebayor, too.

Yes I agree, a good poacher but offers little else. For me better suited as Arry does, off the bench.

Never rely on Tottenham for anything! (From a United fan).

Still too brittle for me. The likes of Defoe, King and Parker don't really believe that they belong at the very top. Too many generic English footballers.

I thought it was pretty positive today on the whole and we could and should have got a result. Defoe seemed to be jogging rather than sprinting to get on the end of Bale's cross - I hope because he was knackered.
There were some things we might have done better though. We seemed to be playing 433 rather than 442, with VdV very deep. If so we'd have done better to start with Livermore rather than VdV or Defoe as that would have freed Modric to play the Silva role and also given us more chance of covering Silva. We were caught yet again not dealing with a ball into the six yard box - we really need to do something on that.

Was at the match today...and id say if only we had belief in our own ability we can achieve alot....its nothing to do with depth of squad etc etc from now on in..its about playing to your utmost.

Ive said it before and ill say it again...for as good as Walker is attacking...i think he needs to sort out his positioning off the ball....and at times in the first half it felt as though for Bale it was about Bale...see if he can do the spectacular...and he actually ended up being extremely static in the first half.

going 2 goals behind woke us up and then we started attcking...our natural game may i add..and then we all know what happend....extremely critical of me i know but even the Defoe chance..i felt that Bale was in 2 minds as to go in for the goal himself or square it...and his pass for me was critically delayed...these are fine tuning issues i saw at the match and it comes down to mental strength more than anything.

After that well what can i say..

last week a phantom corner cost us a goal
this week Howard Webb fluffed it with the Ballotelli incident.

we are well worthy of our position at the minimum......and i think we are ready for the other big matches coming up

p.s we missed Ade badly and just shows how we need 'the' marque signing upfront...that is the only man for man weakness we have currently.

  16. Agree on all counts
Benny looked out of sorts at times and less energetic than in most games this season - although that may have been instructions from the bench to keep his position. Trouble is that we have natural back-up for him...
Defoe showed his value this afternoon and put in a shift but his failings in that formation were also clear for all to see.

Exactly. On another day that would of gone in and the result would of been reversed! I think there are a number of positives from that game for us. We went to a ground playing a team that has won every game, come back from 2-0 down and almost won it!

We gave as good as we got against the best team in the prem - we should be proud of that <ok>

After the first two games we have been superb. Even when we went 2 down to stoke we never gave up and we should of had a result then as well. I have not seen team spirit and fight from a spurs side for many years and it is in every game.

Still comfortably 3rd and 1 game closer to CL football next season

I just hope the boys put this behind them and push on like we did last time we lost to city <ok>

He'd gone down with cramp just before the "chance" so he couldn't even stretch properly. Trust me he was bursting a blood vessel to get to that ball!

Defoe would of scored if he didn't change his direction slightly during his run up
