...just exactly why they should both be playing in the centre off each other and why AVB is a clueless idiot sticking him out wide. Mata to run the show, Torres to score. Easy.
Agree wholeheartedly with you. AVB is extremely poor with positional play and subs, has been all season. Mind you, he's a good judge of players. His stroppyness and short fuse show he's under pressure BIG time, so can forgive him up to a point. Who'd want to take over a team with Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Malouda, Boswinga, all past their best. With 50 mill Torres suffering depression ?? Just watched replay of Norwich game ( it was live early morning here ) and it's the same old same o ld. We just haven't a clue how to break down "in your face" committed defence. Teams like Norwich, Bolton etc we really struggle against. Teams that go at us we handle better, (Man City, Arsenal, Spurs) Seems the worse the opponent, the worse we play. ( no offence to Norwich today they gave it everything ) We should be battering the lower teams, but struggle. I think our set up play from the back is too slow. Cole for me is a shadow of last year. More than anything , I think we lack pace.
QPR Fan in peace "With 50 mill Torres suffering depression ??" Torres isn't suffering from depression, all he needs is a little luck. Last week he hit a fantastic shot which rebounded off the bar and hit Lampard and went in. he is getting in the right places and has looked a bit sharper (Im only watching MOTD highlights so cannot tellover a full match), I just wonder whether he is a player AVB atually wants When we played earlier in the season, Torres was the one player I was glad wasn't playing as he would have ripped our centre backs in half - even when you down to 9 men. A goalscorer just doesn't lose his mojo over night, he will end up scoring two or three against someone - then going on a run. Just hoping it doesn't happen against us and Im sure Hughes would take him off your hands at a very reasonable price IF he's not required. keep the faith with Torres
Exactly my thoughts mate, the only thing missing is luck, yesterday he got himself in a perfect position but hit the shot wide. His doing everything right apart from putting too much pressure on himself, his looking for perfection instead of just shooting, you can tell his trying so hard for a goal because comparing him to the old torres his taking an extra touch on every chance, even the man u game when he missed the open goal, instead of just shooting when he got the ball he tried for perfection and rounded the keeper and unfortunately missed instead of just chipping the keeper, i actually feel so sorry for him, everyone keeps on shooting him down just because his not scoring instead of looking at the actual problems - we have **** all creativity, the ball Gerrard put through to Carroll yesterday in the bolton/liverpool game was perfect and Torres would of scored the chance and it just made me think you'd never see a ball like that from us. No doubt if we sold him aswell he'd go and bang in the goals elsewhere and we'd look like even bigger mugs for selling him
Ninj and lcooper. I was NOT commenting on Torres' form now, but where Chelsea were when AVB took over at the start of the season , and why anyone would take on the job. ( Apart from the £££££££££££££££££££££££ ) Read any of my previous posts and you'll see I am a real Torres supporter. My comments are about AVB and especially his inability to get Chelsea firing against opposition we should be belting. About AVBs' lack of judgement when it comes to playing the formation to win these games. Especially why Mata ISN'T playing central midfield just behind Torres !! Why Ashley Cole is playing lousy football but never gets criticised. Why our manager seems unable to decide his best team, and keeps picking out of form players whilst denying our youngsters the chance to show what they can do. Pressure from above ??? Why the most obvious problem we have as a team is not being addressed. The problem ?? Lack of pace. Not just how fast they can run, but how fast they can think. Luiz has pace. Terry has none. Cole is losing his every week. Boswinga can run quickly, but can't think quickly. Lampard is unfortunately, now just plain slow in both departments. Add Drogba to the list. We are slow all over the pitch. Our play from the back, is as slow as a wet week. Main culprit ????? Ashley Cole. Runs fast thinks slowly. In midfield, with Lampard on the pitch, we're slow. Without him, the whole team is quicker. On the break, the Canaries were more direct, quicker and dangerous. We were, by comparison, ponderous. On paper, we have more skilful players, but the blend is just plain wrong. As many have said before me, AVBs' problem is that he has too many "past it " players on huge salaries that he "has " to play. The sooner they're gone the better. This is not to disrespect them, just a fact of life. SAF cleans them out BEFORE anyone even realises they're past it. Or he used to. Now he's got Ferdinand, Vidic, and he's paying the price. As Bring back Balaban said "MATA to run the show, Torres to score. Easy "
Totally agree mate, but in recent games just like last season players are being played because of their history not their current form. We should be playing Romeu in the holding role, Josh and Ramires either side of midfield with mata behind torres and sturridge and then we'd be ****ing ruining teams but instead were playing in a 4-3-3 formation which does not suit Torres or Mata at all, matas not a left winger his a attacking mid so how can he feed torres beauty balls when his stuck on the left. Lampards injury is a blessing in disguise, Bosingwa and Malouda should never play another game for us and Bertrand should be rotated with Cole from now on
Seems to me we should be on the payroll at CFC. We can see the solution, so why can't AVB ?? Suspect there's just a wee bit of pressure from above with £140,000 per week salaries to justify. I am behind AVB ( believe it or not ). I like what he's doing, like all the players he's bought to the club, I think I can see where he's heading. I think he has plenty to learn about handling pressure, about underestimating "lower " teams, about subs. But like new and young players, it takes time. There is NO instant solution, just trial and error. I think we will be a better, stronger, happier and together team when AVB can level the salary discrepancies, and have all our players well paid, but on similar salaries, and picked on form, not reputation. When ALL our players are treated the same. Looking forward to next year. As you say, Josh and Ramires, Romeu, Sturridge, Mata, Bertrand, Hutchinson, Torres, Lukaku, David Luiz, , the list goes on and on. Fabulous players all. What we need is to blend them into a team that want's to play for CFC. I know we don't agree on certain players, especially Kalou !!, but I think he and Mikel will improve big time when they are treated as equals and not second stringers. The future is bright. The future is blue !!
Spot on, i think he made a mistake this season underestimating the opponents because when he was here with Mourinho in the glory days the league was a lot easier and the average teams were just rolling over whereas these days every match is a match and no match is a guaranteed win, his learning and his young so he'll improve every season and his signings have been top-notch. It will take him a couple of years to get going then we'll be firing on all cylinders again just gotta keep the faith, his attitude has impressed me. Exactly what you've just said, so much quality youth to slowly blend in!! Add Lalkovic,Clifford,Chalobh and Courtious aswell to that list ( Courtious has been outstanding for Athletico from what i've been reading aswell, getting rave reviews ) Kalous a good squad player i don't mind Kalou he just frustrates me sometimes because he does quality when coming on from a sub 9 times out of 10 but **** when he starts 9 times out of 10, Mikel though i can't agree on and if were going to keep Essien then we should have Ess as Back up to Romeu we don't need 2 back-ups. And certainly is, CFC till the end !!
