Quite a large Facebook campaign also discussed on Leeds board currently for a boycott/ protest outside Elland Road for the game vs us. Should be interesting! Thoughts?

Who give a **** about Leeds anyway! Just let them get on with it

Only posted it seeing as it's taking place at the saints game but I, for one will be up there anyway supporting the saints and might as well join in with a few chants because he's a right tool!

Come and join us at the Bremner statue before the game. <ok> Or alternatively (and better), just don't pay 36 quid and travel such a long way. I know Cardiff and Millwall fans both had boycotts when they 'came' to Elland Road this season. Your friends from Portsmouth also reported us to the FA for our stewards and policing being too heavy handed, people being kicked out for standing up and singing, etc. All a very nasty situation.

BATES OUT

Why does everyone seem to have their 'protest-game' against Saints?!

It must be the confidence the other clubs supporters have in Saints to be the top drawer for the media and the people who'll take notice. Which just goes to show the kind of profile Saints have in the football world, even in the second tier. 27 consecutive years in the top division makes a club recognisable.

This is our tenth televized game this season and the only one that's been announced in 2012 since January. That's why it's been chosen as the protest game. Nothing to do with Southampton, except for the fact you're top of the league making it a higher price bracket which will persuade even more people to boycott. Are you even on telly as often as we are?

We had a Saints fan on here a few days/weeks ago [I forget exactly] complaining about how little the media cover us. Then we reminded him how many times our matches have been on TV, and he totally withdrew his moan. In fact, I've actually lost count of how many times Saints have been the main match on TFLS, for example. It's been pretty much every week, this season.

Of course you're the main feature on the FLS most of the time, you're the top of their flagship division. But you've not been televized as often as we have, so I think the suggestion that we're protesting because big boys Southampton are coming to town and it's you that was chosen for television coverage in this fixture rather than us is... well, the wrong way round really. :)

I'm not suggesting that at all. Don't run away with the idea that I'm playing the we're-a-bigger-club-than-you game. I don't play stupid playground games of that nature. It is a fact that one or two clubs supporters have made their protests when their team has played Saints. That's all. Now that has to be something to do with our past and present profile, don't you think..?

I have no idea which clubs protested, whether it was televized, what the crowds were or anything. So I can't comment on that.

All I know is that the Leeds boycott/protest is in no way being swayed by Southampton's stature as a football club, which is a reasonable one which I don't plan on dismissing, but not one that will bring many more eyes than usual to the situation at Elland Road. Whenever we're on telly, whether it be Southampton or Southend, we know we get among the best viewing figures in the country. So yes, the opposition is completely incidental. It's been chosen because it's Cat A price wise and being shown by Sky. It therefore has the best chance of being strongly boycotted and will hopefully send a visible sign of our anger about the way our club's being "run" to the viewing nation.

The means it's living within are akin to sleeping in a cardboard box on the street when you own a perfectly respectable semi-detached house with a comfy bed, while also building a high-cost mansion which looks like ****, you'll never live in and you can't afford.
