So now that we have (at time of writing) made 2 signings, assuming Lee definitely comes in. Now obviously we now have what I would describe as an averagly large squad and it is fair that some are still calling for another striker and maybe a cb as cover. Now obviously we will squad rotate as this is what Nigel does best, however, what would your first team be as things stand, if we had no injuries and everyone was nice and settled in. I think I know mine but the one I am having trouble with it the rm, we have so many good players who can play there: chaplow, de ridder, guly and falque. Chaplow: was class before he went out injured De ridder: again was class before he went out injured Falque: should be a great player who can play there if required and has been played rm for spurs. Guly: no matter how inconsistent he is he scores and gives alot of assists, constantly. But for me it would be: Gk: Davis Rb: Richardson Rcb: Fonte Lcb: Hooiveld Lb: Fox Rm: Chaplow (but regularly swap) Rcm: Hammond Lcm: Cork Lm: Lallana Rs: Lee Ls: Lambert Thing is I would rotate the cm's every game as I feel that Hammond is a class battling player, Cork is probably our best midfielder and Schniderlin is a passing master, all 3 deserve a place and this way no one has to play more than 2 games successively. Depending on form, game distribution and whether the game is home or away I would choose differing rm's, for example I think De Ridder and Falque are more suited to a home game environment due to their skill and class not so much suited to the more scrappy away games. Because this way the bench would have substantial attack options: Connolley, Guly, De Ridder and Falque or Chaplow assuming one doesn't play, one of the cm and then the defensive covers. So out of the 5 bench spaces we can have a Gk, cover defender, cover cm or Falque as it seems he can play in there and then a further 2 more attacking options so that we can always change things. (wish it was still 7 on the bench) I also feel that with this squad we could cope with a few injuies, although fingers crossed we won't have to, I would have prior said exempt Lambert, but whether this is the case or not I won't pass judgement until seeing how we fare against Leicester. But maybe a potential addition being a big striker like Ricky, if we got Hooper obviously that would be incredible. So my question to you is what would your first team be as it stands?
Shows the depth of the squad when Guly with 10 goals already might not be in the team. Also Connelly as back up. Lots of options across the whole team.
I don't think we have a first choice XI, as adkins said its a squad who are all capable and will be reguarly rotated throughout the rest of the season so I doubt we will see a first choice XI personally, just an XI who can win the game as Adkins sees fit
You have to include Guly in the starting line up he is our best attacking option after Lambert sure he might be lazy at times but stats do not lie.
Can see that, and that's why choosing a starting XI is near impossible, we have so many good options. In truth i make my choice from a position of ignorance, knowing very little about Tadanari Lee. However he looks to have pace, something we are in need of and am a sucker for a left footed player playing right sided to allow for the cut in.
This season, I can't see Lee being a starter week in week out. He doesn't deserve to be, especially with the amount of goals/assists Guly has. Our starting 11 come March will probably be ------------------Davis Richardson----Fonts--Hooiveld----Fox Yago------Cork-----Schneiderlin----Lallana ------------Guly---Lambert Bench: Bialkowski, Martin, Chaplow, Lee, Hammond *Assuming there are no further transfer movements.
definately this. There is no best 11....no Connolly (on current form), no schneiderlin (playing well), no Guly, etc, etc. have I just agreed with Saintsfan4life....... *reaches for pills*[/SIZE]
Davis Richardson fonte Hooiveld fox Cork spiderman/hammond Chaplow yago lallana Lambert/hooper... Must admit I'd hate to be Adkins on match day!! Fantastic for us fans though
Did you not read? I would rotate the midfield and the rm's. Whether I would play guly up front anymore I don't know, despite the fact I think he is a midfielder not a striker it would be good to rotate in Lee as well.
