No 'real' bets today but the free bet race is the 2.10 and I am lucky enough to have a go at it.
I like the Ferdy Murphy trained Lord Villez, who currently trades at 11/1. It is an interesting race with plenty of runners who are in good form and have course and/or distance form, yet I have gone for one who looks like he needs further and hasn't been running well on the form figures.
However, Lord Villez has form over the shorter trips from his hurdling days, and I think there are plenty of positives for him today, including the course and how the race is likely to be run. He should be suited to the undulating nature and the courses sharp turns, as he isn't the biggest individual. He also comes from a yard who are in great form, having three winners in recent days, and he also now has the assistance of G Lee from the saddle, which is a big positive as he takes over from an inexperienced 7lb claimer.
The race should be run at a true gallop and if it is I can see him doing strong work in the latter stages, and I can see him outrunning his market position and winning the race.
Here is hoping.
