Searching for the goal at Old Trafford, I came across this video... The Liverpool around the 6 minute mark is possibly the best game i've seen. 15 minutes to go, 3-0 down only to come back and draw 3-3. Epic. Heck of a player the little man.
My favourite Pahars goal was the 2nd against the Skates first season they were promoted in his comeback game
Superb post. What great memories ... let's hope those days are coming back. That goal against United remains one of my favourites. The United fans had their song, if you remember "Big Jaap Stam is a big dutchman Get past him if you ****ing can" Well Marian sure did! One of my best moments supporting that Saints team was that game as United kept going ahead and we kept coming back.
Thanks Joey B, That was a great watch. Brought back some fond memories of the little Lat. Wish we could nick Dr Whos Tardis to bring him back for another go.
Great post and even better player! Getting a bit choked up watching that right through to the end! Let's hope Lee is a similar sort of player
Well of course you get booked for it. It's called inciting the crowd. If that young feller hadn't leaped into the crowd as he did we'd have all carried on smoking our pipes, clapped politely and shaken our rattles (as Pathe news). Who makes up these rules?
I remember my mate was at that Liverpool game with his Dad and they are both Liverpool fans. He was totally gutted and I was totally gloating! Priceless....
For the Liverpool game I was living oop Norf and had a dinner party at my wife's friends house. All three of the other blokes attending were season ticket holders at Liverpool... boy I loved that evening. For the goal agaisnt United at Old Trafford, I was sat on my own in the Stretford end (only ticket I could get); great day to be there... especially after the Taibi effort. Marian Pahar, Marian, oooh oooh oooh ooooh Marian!
Great video. I remember the feet but had forgotten how many he scored with his head! Cut a rather sad figure at the end though. His injuries meant he wasn't offered another contract, as I recall, but what a fabulous bit of business bringing him here.
How about using his Korean name? Tadanaaariii Leeeee Chung-Sung Leeee Ooooohhhh Chung-Sung Leeee ... I'lll get my coat
