Has said that he's leaving. Wasn't that impressed when we signed him, but what a legend he turned into. A model professional, superb captain and a true Ranger.

Not a surprise. think his family are still down in Liverpool direction.

Fantastic signing and a great player. Pity we never signed him before he went to Everton.

Apparently Friday will be his last day and he's heading back down south to try to continue playing. Could easily play in League 1 or 2 down there, it might be more about location for him rather than the league or size of club

Fair play to the old fella. Never known a guy who looked so close to death but was obviously still very fit.

he won 8 trophies including 3 in a row and a UEFA cup final in the space of 5 years

what did Larsson win with celtic in 7 years? you would call him a legend I assume?

And Ian ferguson won more trophies than that I suppose he's a "legend" too?

"Legend" as a compliment should be used sparingly for "real" legends, lest it dilute the achievements of people worthy of hanging that honorific from, like Greig, Cooper, Baxter and the like.

Weir was a decent pro who did a good job for Rangers but he's no legend.

he earned that. what did he win trophy wise in 7 years? I would tell you but wiki is down <wah>

He's a legend because he brought a quality of football to the Scottish game that is all so rare.

I've nothing against Davie Weir but you can hardly claim he did likewise.
