Can't believe i'm going to say this, but

For The Good Of The CLub, i actually want us to get relegated.

That sums up how strongly i feel about the clown in charge, get relegated then THIS FOOTBALL CLUB ( his words ), can move on & hopefully he will retire, move upstairs, get the welsh job?. Just get rid of this ****ing imbecile.

Now this is not a reaction to the last 2 games, it's a reaction to the ****ing utter drivel i have witnessed over the last 18 MONTHS.

As a manger his tactics/team selections are ****ing unbelievable, playing players out of position, playing players who are not good enough ( we all know who they are ).The guy just do'es not have a clue .

People on here call him a legend <yikes>, just because he got us to the prem.

TP lovers please explain to me :

1: Why is he a legend?
2: Why do you think that he is the man to PROGRESS THIS FOOOTBALL CLUB
3: What do you think about the total utter ****ing garbage "football" we are playing
4: Why does he not pick players to play in there proper positions
5: Why in interviews after games he rants & blames everybody but his tactics
6: And finally, why the **** is he still in charge

To me, when he keeps saying "this football club", "smashing football club","the chairman of this club is smashing" says to me (he can't say Stoke City), & this is just a stepping stone to the wales job.

Well in my eyes , just **** off.

And before all you tony lovers state that he got us to the prem, i agree he did a great job getting us there, & keeping us up.

But the tide has turned, & he cant find a way of turning it back.

I can't believe what I just read. I understand you may not like Tony Pulis, but ACTUALLY WILLING YOUR TEAM ON TO GET RELEGATED is completely ridiculous <steam> if you don't like Tone then fine say "TONY OUT" but wanting the CLUB TO ACTUALLY GET RELEGATED affects the WHOLE CLUB. Surely you won't be rubbing your hands with glee IF we did get relegated? <yikes>

Sorry, I just don't agree with your opinion.
 
hmmmmmmmmm I'm not TP's greatest fan but I really don't want to see us go down. The last time that happened we dropped again the next season as well. The only way we can either get TP playing decent football is to vote with our feet or bombard Coate's mailbox with letters pleading for some decent football. What the club needs this minute in time is a decent number 2 to Pulis, just like Peter Reid. Because this Dave Kemp is as soft as Pulis. We need someone with some balls that is going to make a stand.
 
I can answer your question with a simple phrase: THIS WAS THE PLAN ALL ALONG!

Yes we've been pretty awful in our last couple of games, and i do wish to see a bit more skill and style, but you know what? If we survive this season, then we'll see a change. If not, then I'm behind everyone else in the whole TP out, because I'm behind him only because I think he's going to move us forward next year. We do have some good passers in our team, in the likes of Wilson, Whelan Ringtone and Pennant. But the likes of Diao and Whitehead (as much as I'm grateful for Whitehead for his style sometimes). Our style leaves much to be desired, and I'm glad I'm a student unable to afford a season ticket because I think I'd scream if I was watching it. But when I get there I'm just glad to see our lads in red and white. OK, we're not doing brilliantly, but I don't think TP out is the way to go. Look at what he's done, not just getting us up but 12th and then 11th in successive seasons?

And as Stoke fans we should know by now it's never easy, we never doing things comfortably no matter who the manager is.

TP should only be brought into question if we are relegated or if he doesn't live up to his promise next season. When we were promoted, we all were quite happy with a three season plan of getting comfy, and we all new that we'd have to stick at it and it would be difficult. Am i saying I'm happy with the football we play? NO. But I realise there's more to it than just sending 11 players out there, and to have a manager like TP who does love the club and sees beyond trying to play nice football makes a big difference.

TP out? Not a chance, just give him the chance to live up to what he said and then question him. And relegation as an answer? Don't be stupid.

FTC certainly don't want to see us go down. It is a long way back, 20 plus years last time and looking at some of the teams in the Championship-Leeds, Forest etc no guarantee we would bounce back.
I think generally I post fairly balanced comments even though I have been seriously unhappy with the style of play, management decisions and particularly some of the transfer activity. I posted on 606 in September 2010 stating that it was a dead cert that we would struggle this season. This was after we had taken 4 points from two successive games following our poor start. The article was criticising our centre midfield partnerships with Whitehead used as a play maker and Delap embarrassingly poor. We also had Fuller coming on for 20 mins and not having time to change the game. It noted that the passion had gone out of the team and that if we did not do anything about the middle of the park then we had major problems. Does this sound depressingly familiar. If there is a sad indictment of TP then it is his failure to address issues we can all see such as these and what is he doing with our right and left backs. Personally, I cannot see PC changing anything before the end of the season and I don't see how he could even if he wanted to. If he did sack TP and we got relegated then he would be castigated for the decision. If he keeps him and we stay up then he would be seen as someone who supports his manager and if we go down then he may get some criticism from some people for fiddling whilst Rome burns but the vast majority will see that he put faith in the manager and team to keep us up, which is reasonable. The politically daft decision from his perspective is to sack TP now in my view.
Having said all that we are right in it and no mistake. When you look at our games and the way we are playing, there needs to be an attitudinal and performance change by a number of players and decisions by TP to play players in their right positions, if we are going to stay up. We have one of the harder runs ins to say the least and I am getting more fearful with every passing game.
Whilst I would say FTC we cannot change the manager now and I certainly do not want us to be relegated there needs to be an analysis in May, either way, as to whether the club wants to continue to play the current style of football or become more expansive. I personally have hated a lot of the games I have seen us play this season and I can see why there has been an increase in fans wanting change. Lot of money and time to watch some of the dross we have served up.

Don't understand why people want to turn this situation in to a simple TP out vs TP lover debate. I do not want to see us go down either!

I have watched us all season and very often have wondered where our fight/passion/spirit has gone too. We just seem to roll over these days. I don't understand what is happening in the camp. We used to scrap away from home, yes very often it was boring to watch but we came back clutching a hard fought for point.

As for the squad itself, give me Wilko and Higgy any day of the week, as I know those two guys will give it their ALL for the team. Hell, that's why so many of us wept when Tunny departed, as at least he would give it 100% when he was eventually allowed to play and in the correct position.

My view is that we have to see these next few months out with what we've got and fingers plus everything else crossed, we will still be in the EPL. Then review.

As always, we the fans never see all that is going on behind the scenes and we have little or no say in the decisions and politics that must go on.

Interesting to see how defensive PC was during the first part of the Chairman's question times when he was asked if Stoke really had progressed in any shape or form from last season (I must have been one of many Stokies that had asked the question in an e-mail).

He was fairly aggressive and dismissive of the question and this to me speaks volumes that this is a sensitive point. I am 100% sure that as the chief benefactor of the club (FA Cup to one side) he is not happy with our performances, particularly since the January transfer window.

Back to things we can usefully debate, I really hope that we come out of the blocks fighting at the weekend with our best 11 ON from the very start!!

I merged your previous thread into the "For the Good of the Club" thread as I felt there was no point having more than 1 thread on pretty much the same subject, so that's where it is. I will wait for your response before merging this one into the "For the Good of the Club" thread.
 
Idiotic thread, not one Stoke City supporter that has the club at heart and didn't start supporting us since 2007/2008 will want us to get relegated, it's a stupid statement and yes I do hold pulis in high regard. His recent performances have lead me to believe otherwise though with his strange tactics, substitutions and also team selections. I'm not happy with it but all I like most of us can do is to voice our opinion and let everyone know we aren't happy with the way that we are setting up to lose.

I've never loved the man but I do not dislike the man as some do on here, all I care about is Stoke City, players and managers come and go but the club will stay as one, complete throughout anything that we have to endure, no matter how painful that it may be.

I do believe that the man is a LEGEND, he is a legend in the fact that he is our second most successful manager in OUR history, if you're that fuickle not to relaise that then you need not follow football to be quite honest. We've been promoted to the Premier League and have a good squad, a squad that is probably one of our best, in fact I KNOW it's one of our best.

Don't be so bloody NAIVE and look at the BIGGER picture!

This bit got me quite interested and made me think about what Pulis' win percentage is compared to the likes of Mather and Waddo. Of the statistics that I can find, these are the win percentages (Qualification, at least 300 game in charge):

Horace Austerberry - 421 games, win% - 35.39%
Tom Mather - 523 games, win% - 42.45%
Bob McGrory - 460 games, win% - 36.96%
Frank Taylor - 362 games, win% - 40.33%
Tony Waddington - 764 games, win% - 34.69%
Tony Pulis - 354 games, win% - 37.57%

So going by plain statistics, the one that brought through Sir Stan is the most successful, mind you Waddo obviously won more major trophies.
 
Good statistics there Tom but some people need to acknowledge what Pulis has done for Stoke City, i'm not saying i'm happy with the football being played because i'm far from happy with it but the fac t of the matter is that we are at a great stage in the lcub where we have a chairman that is willing to invest great sums of money in to the regenration of the football club to try and consolidate OUR future.
Going on what he's done for Stoke City, our cup placings and our squad, he is our most successful manager in the history of Stoke City in my honest opinion.
 
Right guys, I think that (as the title says) 'FOR THE GOOD OF THE CLUB' we should:

1) STOP trying to determine who IS a PULIS LOVER and who IS a PULIS HATER, its pointless, and to be honest, making some of us sound like suck ups and some of us sound like horrible creatures full of hate. :emoticon-0112-wonde
2) STOP BLOCKING OUT THE GOOD TONY HAS DONE! FFS, seriously guys, HE GOT US PROMOTED, and all this crap that 'he's full of negativity' - he doesn't give a negative impact IMO, he motivates them works them AAAAAAAAAAAARD and its egotastical players like Tunch who gets under his skin, and Begs that time when he refused to play?
3) AND JUST TRY, I'm not saying build shrines for Tone and worship him, AND LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE, yes it DOES exist, and we need to GET BEHIND THE LADS, things aren't in UTTER TURMOIL, players aren't leaving, we have no money troubles, and I know were in the drop zone but there are many other teams WORSE THAN STOKE.

1. 23 years in the wilderness, kept us in the Championship and got us up to the premership plus he's kept us there, Brought millions of pounds into the football club in the process which has helped keep ticket prices down. Win the FA cup he'll be on par with Waddo

2. Yes he already has from 24th in the Championship to 12th in the Premership (that's progression)

3. It's worker so far so you canna complain plus we really have missed Etherington not being a 100% fit

4. I haven't the foggiest

5. Players go out and perform on the pitch their is only so much a manager can do.

6. He's the best man for the job

FTCIIF so I take it then you won't be renewing your season ticket this year or going to Wembley if we get there then. Can't say Stoke City to me is a load of B******S this football club sounds a whole lot more personal.

Let me just clarify something. I do not hate Pulis, nor do I love him. I love what he's done for the club, and until the past 12 months, things had been going swimmingly for him. Then one thing or another, his refusal to give Tunny a proper go, his stubbornness, his odd tactics, his baffling substitutions have counted against him. The last 2 points, especially lately. I will always get behind them, IF they at least give us something more to shout about, a bit more effort, a bit more determination, like the kind Super Jonny gives every week, he's been one of our more consistent players lately. If the rest were playing like Jonny, we wouldn't be half as frustrated as we are. Also Jub, I think when you say that "many" teams are worse than Stoke, is a little bit much. I'd say we are better than Blackburn and Wigan, on a par with Blackpool, Brum and Wolves, I'd say Baggies, Villa and West Ham are better teams than us. We are in a dogfight to survive, we have to improve, we need to find 9 points, ideally 11, from somewhere, as 40 won't be enough I don't think.

Nice to hear some honesty from a player instead of standard, "it was the manager's decision". Good lad is Jermaine. Maybe i'm reading too much into this, but does that 2nd tweet I mentioned just above, indicate that all is not well between the players and the manager, or is Pennant just being an honest lad?

She also said Collins didn't go to it this evening, due to a death in the family.
