Yep, in the cup this season.

Scunthorpe actually isn't a bad away trip. It has everything there for you just outside the ground, just a shame about the stadium really.

lol to be fair mate, you couldn't have picked a worse fan to bring up/question attendance!

As for the rest of this discussion.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say Guthrie is light years ahead of Sunderland's midfield, but he's certainly not as bad as you lot made out. Having said that, I wouldn't expect other fans to know how good he is, half of us weren't even aware until midway through last season...He was always one who talked a good game, but has far too many injuries to be able to stake a place and improve with experience. On this season's showing though, he's got some class about him!

I dont know about him being lightyears ahead either BUT, theres not a single central midfielder in their lineup now that I would take over him, hes been great this season. Having said that though if I had seen more of their CM's in action this season my opinion might be swayed. I'd take the odd players in other positions though.

Guthrie isn't 'lightyears' ahead of the Sunderland midfielders like. I think some people are underestimating their CMs quite a bit.

Good player though, and probably would challenge for an XI spot in their side on top form. The only reason he isn't currently our first-choice CM is because Tiote is such a class player, otherwise we wouldn't have anyone who would come close to keeping Guthrie out the side.

When you're fortunate enough to have a top top top CM like Tiote, he's of course going to be able to keep some bloody good midfielders out the starting XI.

And neither is he as good as you lot make out. Only three things in life are certain, taxes, death, and these sorts of arguments.

No one is saying he is a world beater but on current form he has done more than enough to warrant a new ontract and he has been that good recently, you would think twice before putting tiote straight back in.

There was actually one point where some of us were wondering whether Tiote should really automatically get his place back because of how good Guthrie was playing.

It surprised us too. He's been solid. Not quite the same type of player as Tiote though unfortunately. With him on it's a bit like playing with Cabaye and Cabaye junior.
