Having a quick look through Garth Crooks' team of the week over at the BBC - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16564469.stm MIDFIELD - LUKA MODRIC, TOTTENHAM If Spurs have any chance of winning the title then this man has to feature in all of Tottenham's remaining games. I hear through the grapevine that he is already complaining about the number of matches he is having to play in the Premier League. If true, Spurs had better come up with a plan because without him they are doomed. ---------------------------------- Makes absolutely no sense to me...
He has to play 38 games...which is the exact same number he's had to play every season since his arrival, barring injury and suspension. In other words, it sounds like Crooksy has got crossed wires, and muddled him with Niko...
Maybe he's feeling knackered. Giving Niko a game or two would help both of them. But not against City!
Sounds pretty unlikely, but we've got enough players that can cover his position, if he's feeling the pace. Kranjcar's the obvious and direct replacement, Huddlestone will offer something slightly different when he's fit and we could even try Pienaar or Carroll there, if we're desperate. We're not lacking numbers, even if Redknapp seems a little bit reluctant to freshen things up.
He seemed happy in his post match interview. We do need to rest him a bit when the games come thick and fast. Niko needs more game time
He had a grin on his face for the rest of the game after he'd scored, you wouldn't have realised we were losing to look at him. If he's unhappy at playing I'd be very surprised but I'm sure Garth would have some contacts at the club so it's a little bit worrying if it's come from a reliable source.
Well i dont blame him..yes he gets paid handsomely so get on with it..but we have a squad for a reason...and if we are talking the Premier league for contention then ,no disrespect to Wolves but we should be able to make a fair number of changes for this match and it should not affect the equilibrium of the team....after all we are supposed to have a pretty good squad...if i have a gripe with HR its this..he wont rotate...SAF at United does it often..he shows confidence in his players and is willing to throw them in..its a case of..you have no time to get used to things..no 10 matches to find your feet cack.. so you better man up in this match because your playing...and it works wonders and for me it develops the youngsters quicker and keeps the squad players...e.g Niko,Defoe,Bassong...raring to go...instead they get the odd match in ten and are expected to play like the player they have just replaced..but they cant as thier confidence is not very high...a major issue i have with HR indeed.
